“Yeah?” Bette replies, looking sideways at Tina.

“You know, with my new job and everything?” Tina starts.

“Yeah?” Bette nod her head.

“I will not be gone for this one. I’ll be right here. And the project doesn’t get off the ground for another 4 months or so.” Tina says as she quickly glances at Bette before looking back at the road. “Which means that your treatment, hopefully is long over. You’ll have most of your strength back.” She adds.

“Don’t worry about that Tee. We’ll be fine.” Bette replies.

“You are my priority Bette, no matter what. I’ve also explained that to my new boss. And if it comes to that, you are not completely well yet, I can do a lot from home. My job is not operational. Sure, I have to be on set from time to time, but my main place will be in an office.” Tina says and reach over to take Bette’s hand in hers. She gives it a little squeeze. “You are my priority. You and Angie.” Tina says with conviction.

“Okay. We’ll be fine Tee. As long as you’re committed to us this time, and not run, we’ll be fine.” Bette whispers.

“I will not run. Not ever again. I’m here to stay. I promise you Bette. And I understand that you’re still a little unsure about that, but I assure you, I’m never leaving again. I love you.” Tina says as she gives Bette’s hand a loving squeeze.

“I love you too Tee. More than you will ever know.” Bette whispers as she looks ahead.

Tina, blinks a few times to blink away the threatening tears as she pulls into the parking lot at the hospital. Bette is first out of the car, which gives Tina a few seconds to dry her eyes, hoping that Bette won’t notice it. She then steps out of the car and joins Bette’s side. Both taking a hold of each other’s hands. “I love you Tee.” Bette whispers and places a kiss on the side of Tina’s head as they walk towards the entrance of the hospital.

One hour later they are walking out again.

2 weeks later.

Bette is in the last week of the radiation treatment. Her hair has started falling off. She has worn a cap now for a week and yesterday she called Shane to ask her if she could come and give her a haircut. She had not told Tina that Shane would come over later today. She asked Tina if she would be home for dinner. And Tina had told her that she would be home around five, five thirty at the latest.This day, after they had been for the  treatment, Tina had a few meetings at her new job that could not be moved. It was meetings regarding the budget of the new series.
