Can we get it back – Chapter 3

“Hi Ms. Porter.” Jordi says first.

“Hi, Jordi, Angie is upstairs, you can just go up. She’s waiting for you.” Bette replies with a smile.

“Thanks.” Jordi says and runs upstairs after she took off her shoes and jacket.

Then Shane comes in. they didn’t need to say anything. Shane just wraps her arms around Bette and gives her a big hug. Tears comes right away for Bette.

“Come on, let’s go and sit down.” Shane says and pulls Bette with her. They sit down on the sofa.

“I’m num Shane, scared, terrified. I feel nothing but I also feel everything.” Bette explains.

“What did the doctor say?” Shane asks as she holds Bette’s hand.

“They will call with a time for operation tomorrow. They will schedule it for next week. Shane I need to make sure Angie is taken care of while I’m in the hospital.” Bette starts.

“Bette, I’ll help. She can stay with me. No problem. But don’t you think you should call Tina? I mean, Angie will need her. You will be worse before you get better and who knows for how long you’ll be at the hospital.” Shane says.

“No Shane. It will be too hard. I can’t have Tina here. It will break my heart all over again. I don’t want her pity. I don’t want to see her with Carrie. I can’t have any negativity in my life now. That will take focus off me getting better.” Bette explains. “So please, don’t contact her. I can’t stop Angie from calling her mother, but… I have asked her to not tell her.” Bette continues as she dries her tears.

“Okay, for now I won’t say anything to Tina.” Shane says. “But if things change, I will not hesitate calling her if I see that Angie needs her and you are not completely available. Deal?” Shane says, looking into Bette’s eyes.

    “Okay, fare enough.” Bette agrees.

Upstairs Jordi and Angie is laying on the bed, staring at the roof. Holding hands. Angie has told Jordi that Mama B is really sick and that she would need to be home a lot more the following weeks and months and that she couldn’t go out with her so much. Jordi understood and told Angie that she would be there for her, if she’ll let her.
