Can we get it back – Chapter 32

Bette smiles. “Yeah, I’d like that.” Bette replies, smiling over at Angie.

Tina continues to softly stroke Bette’s beanie-clad head, while reading on her ipad.

“Oh shit!” Bette lets out and then quickly gets up.

“What’s wrong Bette?” Tina asks worriedly.

“I need the bathro….” Is all she gets out before passing out and falls down.

    “Mama B?” Angie shouts out.

Tina is also quick on her feet. “Angie, call an ambulance. She hit her head in the fall.” Tina lets out and is on her knees beside Bette.

“Bette? Bette? Can you hear me?” Tina calls out while gently stroking her face. “Come on Bette, wake up.” Tina is now crying. She’s scared and Angie is crying as she talks to the paramedics.

“I need an ambulance. My mom passed out and hit her head. Please hurry.” Angie cries out.

“No, I’m not alone, my other mom is here also, she’s trying to wake up her up. She is in radiation treatment for a brain tumor.” Angie explains to the questions she is asked. “Mom, is there a pulse, they want to know if she’s breathing.” Angie asks Tina.

“Yeah, she’s breathing, but it is irregular. Please tell them to hurry up.” Tina cries as she continues to softly stroke Bette’s face.

5 minutes later they hear the sirens stopping outside. Angie runs to the door and opens it up in time to let them in.

“She’s in here.” Angie says and points to the living room.

“She’s breathing, but it is irregular, and I haven’t been able to wake her up.” Tina says as she moves out of the way so they could start their work.

“Hi, I’m Mike and this is Melissa. What happened?” Mike the paramedic says.

“We were relaxing on the couch and then she suddenly she said oh shit, and then suddenly stood up. It happened so fast I didn’t even react before she was falling down and she hit her head on table.” Tina explains, still crying.

“She’s in treatment for brain tumor. She has 1 week left of radiation therapy. And then hopefully she’ll be in remission.” Tina adds.

“Okay.” Mike says as he and Melissa hook Bette up to different equipment’s to take her vitals.

For 5 more minutes they do several checks and tries to wake Bette also.

    1. Well, this was unexpected…. at least no new growth of the cancer. But fainting and the inability to awaken her by either Tina or EMTs is really troubling particularly since the bump on the head caused no damage. The irregular breathing and pulse rate are troubling as well.

During this nausea bouts, one should always have a handy dandy garbage pail available. Sprinting to the bathroom is usually not an option.

Hope Bette is okay…. post again soon…

      • Agree. Sitting and standing too quickly and ensuing dizziness and possible fainting makes sense. But Bette’s unresponsiveness and irregular breathing is not nothing. Something is really amiss.

    2. You just couldn’t help yourself to put a little more drama for our Bette! I was worried when Bette didn’t awake after her fall but it is positive that after the scans has been taken it showed no growth of her tumor. But the irregular breathing and pulse rate are not a good sign, that must be checked out.

    3. Bette’s irregular heartbeat and breathing is troubling along with hitting her head. Hopefully, it truly was just standing too quickly. They need to make sure there’s a trashcan close by to avoid Bette having to move too much.
