Angie:  yeah…I’ll take care of it. My life is about to change from that of a child to that of an adult. I’m going to have to put away all my childhood things. Do you think you guys could keep my books?

Tina:  Oh absolutely. We will make sure there is a place for those.

Bette: Okay, before we go downstairs, Angie, you need to get your laptop.  Your mom and I have set a goal of this coming Friday to get our driver’s licenses moved to California.  You will need to take the written portion of the driving test for the state of California.  So, you need to download the California Driver’s Handbook and start studying. There are also several sample test to take on line so you can practice.  You, my lady, need to be ready to take that test and pass it on Friday morning. Hopefully by Friday afternoon you will have a learner’s permit for the state of California.

Angie:  Wow., that’s not a lot of time.

Tina:  You are a smart girl. Get the book, learn it. Do the practice test. Review the book portion on that what you missed. Do another practice test. You can do this. It’s probably a 50-question multiple choice test. Just read that book and study every chance you get between now and then. You just need to pass with an 80% correct score. Now let’s go down stairs and get some more sheets going.

Bette:  Yeah, we are what half way through?

They went to the laundry room and pulled out the sheets from the dryer and put another load in. Tina picked up the sheets and towels from their bedroom and got them started.

Tina:  Angie, bring all your dirty clothes and we will get Daniel’s dirty clothes and you will start on laundry lessons tomorrow. For the rest of the summer, you will then be responsible to keep up with yours and his laundry.  And he will not appreciate any pink underwear or t-shirts.

Angie wrinkled her nose. This was not her plan for a summer vacation.

Tina:  No faces.  You need to start thinking in terms of keeping up your laundry. Mama B nor I will be in New Haven to keep you in clean underwear. We are also going to give you some cooking lessons as well. You need to be able to put together some simple meals. When the snow is up to your wha-who, you won’t be able to get a pizza delivered.
