Angie:  I’m going to need more clothes than that!

Bette:  I know you want more, but you do not need more.  This is a year of change for you. You will have limited space in your dorm. And I mean limited. Your closet will be about 5 foot wide with one rack and one shelf and the floor. And everything you cannot get in your chest of drawers or on your bookcase will need to be in that closet.

Bette: So, everything you have, you must maximize its use. You are going to have to learn to do laundry and figure that into your schedule. You are going to have a roommate which you will be sharing space with. You are going to have homework which will challenge the best of students. Your wardrobe will be something to get you by comfortably and efficiently. When you start to get a paycheck, then you can buy and possess all the glamorous clothes you like. Depending on what you do as far as a sorority will determine what your clothing needs will be. A sorority, you will need a lot more formal wear than you would if you were non-Greek. So, until that is resolved, you get a basic wardrobe.

Angie:  Okay, I understand.  This sorority business effects a lot of decisions.

Tina:  Come on guys, let’s go to Dan’s room.

Bette:  Bottom line Angie.  You need to help your mom every way you can. This is the trip to get everything ready for school for you. We have no other time. Oh, and you will need to go through everything in your room. All the memorabilia, the keep sakes, the photos and decide what needs to be shipped to Los Angeles, what goes to New Haven and what gets disposed of. Remember, you will be really limited in space in New Haven and you will only be home on a limit basis for the next seven years. All the memorabilia should be packed up for storage. I know you have a bunch of stuff animals. You may want to donate some of those to the children’s hospital in New York. The rest should be packed up for shipment to LA. Whatever you do not get to, we will make the decisions on and you may not like our decisions.
