Chapter 11
(Tina) Hi Alice
(Alice) Can I call you Tee, or is that just a Bette thing?
(Tina smiles) No you’re fine
(Alice smiles) It suits you
Tina smiles.
(Alice) Anyway, everything OK?
(Tina) Yeah everything’s fine, I just can’t get onto Bette. I can potentially fly home a day earlier and I wanted to talk to her about it before I head off to this event tonight. I thought she might be with you?
(Alice) Ah, no, she’s not with me
(Tina sighs) OK, thanks anyway, I’ll keep trying
Alice pauses for a second before speaking.
(Alice) Well, actually, as far as I know she has a date tonight. That’s not weird to say I guess? Given how things are between you?
Tina raises her eyebrows.
(Tina) Oh, um, no of course that’s not weird
Tina closes her eyes and rubs her forehead.
(Tina) God, how embarrassing, I’ll stop annoying her then
They sit in awkward silence for a moment.
(Alice) This isn’t an issue though, yeah? I mean you’re obviously also out there
(Tina) Of course it’s not an issue
Tina frowns.
(Tina) Why do you say that though? That I’m obviously out there?
(Alice laughs) Ah, blonde, tall, fucking gorgeous. I saw you having dinner together before you left. Well done by the way
Tina frowns in confusion for a moment and then laughs.
(Tina) God, there’s no way I’m passing that feedback on, his ego is enough to deal with as it is
Alice frowns.
(Alice) What, so, not a date? Who is he then?
(Tina) He would be my brother
Alice laughs.
(Alice) Oh, awkward, sorry
Tina laughs and shakes her head.
(Tina) He travels a lot for work and had a night’s stopover here so we managed a dinner
(Alice nods) Right
There is another silent moment, and Tina sits down on the bed.
(Tina) Did you mention this to Bette?
(Alice) Ah, it may have come up
Tina rubs her forehead and sighs.
(Alice) You’re very affectionate with each other. Why were you holding hands?
(Tina laughs) Because he’s my brother and we were having an intense conversation. Do you have siblings Alice?
(Alice) No
Tina smiles and shakes her head.
(Tina) It’s really not weird, at all

Rules up and down and up again, but they confessed their true feelings.
I simply love this story!

Why is Tina making this so hard? I feel like she is manipiulating Bette for some strange reason. Either she feels the same way or she stops stringing Bette along! Piss or get off the pot , Tina! PPS

I am actually getting frustrated with this story. Its a point of trying to keep something hidden from the other… going through the motions of having a true connection when the rules say you do not. And since you do not, it could all be over without a word. No need for goodbyes or an explanations… because there was no connection anyway. Those are the rules. And their individual emotional response is their individual problem…. and that to me seems cruel and uncaring. Its a wall which will cause major heartache at some point which was the point of the making the rules in the first place. To avoid a heartbreak…. Time to take the chance that this relationship is real and is something good and long lasting and meaningful not just a good time momentary fling with no attachments. And just because they are attracted to each other and see and feel something they have never experienced before does not remove the “oh but this is just something for the moment” and has no future rules. And that is truly a frustrating thought…. This is a relationship with conditions.. Truly a bargained arrangement.
Thanks for the chapter…. I do hope these rules go away…. and allow them to love each other without conditions.

I think that’s the point of this story… this journey that katynd is guiding us on. Finding a way. It’s going to be frustrating because the walls won’t come down all at once. They can’t. It’s too much. It’s going to be gradual.

Running out of superlatives to describe your writing, apropos of nothing, Bette’s line from Chpt 7 has been a recurring thought for me:
“(Bette) I don’t think you need to take quite so much from you feeling jealous. It doesn’t need to be the terrible thing you’re making it out to be, if we choose to look at it differently”
– This line should be framed and hanging on a psychotherapist’s waiting room wall.

I created an account on here just to let you know how much I love your stories and your writing. I am so crazy hooked on every single one of your works. Thank you so much for sharing these stories with us.
I can’t wait to see how their relationship will evolve. I’m on the edge of my seat every time you post a chapter and I’m sure things will go terribly wrong before Tina finally realize how good Bette is for her. I can’t wait to hear more about Tina’s backstory and find out why she is so guarded. The way you portray them falling in love subtlety and slowly is pure perfection. It reminds me a little bit of some of your other stories as well. You capture this dynamic between them perfectly every time.
Anyways, can’t wait for more. And thank you again for keeping us entertained and continuing to keep the stories about Bette and Tina alive!

Omg I agree Josie!!!! I love this story and this chapter was so intense. I’ve read the end of page 5 going into to 6 like 10 times ! I love how it’s going. I definitely look forward to these.

You are brilliant. BRILLIANT. I’m desperate to know what is going on for Tina in this story. Why the rules when you are both so clearly in love?

Please update soon! It’s like a good book that I can’t put down.
Love your stories and how the stories evolve.

Tina has apparently been hurt in the past therefore doesn’t want the commitment with Bette. I think we will find out Tina’s reason. Bette is so patient with Tina letting her rule the relationship. Thank you for the new chapters.
