    Chapter 11

Bette continues watching her and Tina shrugs.

(Tina) I’m engaged. And I know you don’t like to acknowledge it, at all , but you are actually in a relationship too

Bette looks away and then gives her a sideways glance and Tina smiles at her.

(Tina) And aside from all of that, I also need to respect your feelings towards me. Your present day feelings towards me

    Tina shakes her head.

(Tina) And I haven’t been doing that by spending this time with you. With the way we’ve been acting. I certainly wasn’t respecting it last night

Bette furrows her brow as she listens.

(Tina) I think that you’ve needed my support and I’m glad I’ve been able to be here for you. But I’ve crossed a line. And I need to stop this now, before we go any further

They sit in silence for a while and Bette continues watching her. Tina eventually looks over at her and raises an eyebrow.

(Tina) And you’re going to have to stop looking at me like that

(Bette smiles) I don’t know any other way to look at you

They smile at each other and Tina then reaches towards her and takes her hand.

(Tina) You have a support network aside from me. It’s time for me to take a step back

Bette looks down at their hands for a long moment, and then raises her eyes to Tina’s.

(Bette) You don’t think you should maybe reflect on why you’ve been caught up with this? Caught up with me?

Tina looks to their hands and furrows her brow, collecting her thoughts.

(Tina) Where you are right now. 2002. That was a time when things between us were, well…

She takes a breath and smiles at Bette.

    (Tina) Great

    (Bette) More than great

Tina smiles and looks downwards again. She nods and then looks back to Bette.

    (Tina) Yes, more than great

They hold each other’s gaze for a moment.

(Tina) But it’s not reality Bette. It’s not my reality. I know how you feel towards me now, in the present day. You might not accept that, but I do

    She shrugs.

(Tina) You just don’t want this. And you don’t want me. That’s the reality

    1. What an interesting turn in this very intriguing story, katynd. Angie’s observations and what she knows about both her parents’ recent and past feelings to each other are important pieces of the puzzle. Hopefully, we’ll find out what really happened between Bette and Tina before the accident and if there’s a chance those hurts can eventually heal and they can rebuild their present-day relationship. I loved Bette and Angie’s wordless but very emotional reunion and Tina joining the emotional family hug.❤ Thank you so much for this lovely, well-written gem, katynd!❤ I don’t even remember the last time I was able to leave a comment to any of your stories but please know that I always read your stories and look out for a new chapter. Before I checked out this latest chapter, I was enjoying rereading “Political Persuasion”. God, I love that story!❤ So many thanks again and enjoy the rest of the day, katynd!:)

      • Couldn’t have said it better!

I’m dying to know what happened that Bette is supposed to hate Tina.

Although Bette seems to hate Tina for a long time if we have to believe Tina and their friends, she told Angie a lot about their early years, so the love has been buried deep but never went away.

I really hope that when Bette get her memory back they can rebuild their friendship and their relationship.

    2. I didn’t expect that relavation at all! Wow. So Tina keeps her true feelings to herself because she thinks Bette doesn’t like her, Bette tells everyone that she hates Tina. Seems like Angie and Bette have a lot to talk about. I hope that Angie will give Bette more insights to why she “officially” pretends to have moved on from Tina. Maybe she can tell her about her absent girlfriend as well.
Angie could be the key to change her mother’s relationship for the better. Love it!

I’m repeating mysef but this version is so so so good. Really can’t wait for the next chapter.
