    Chapter 11

Bette frowns as she takes this in, searching Tina’s face.

(Bette) So I can’t see you? Is that what you’re saying?

Tina has a sip of wine before responding.

(Tina) We’ll see each other. But I obviously can’t stay anymore, and I don’t think we should spend time just the two of us

Bette takes a breath as she looks back at her.

(Tina) But Angie’s home now, and she’s dying to see you. I’d like for you to see her as soon as possible, and I can be there for that. And I’m sure I’ll see you through the others too

Bette nods and has a sip of tea.

(Tina) Could Angie and I come over tomorrow night? We could all have dinner together?

Bette looks to her and smiles.

(Bette) I’d like that, very much

    (Tina smiles) OK

A short while later, they move to the front entrance together to say their goodbyes. They reach the front door and turn to face each other, both looking at the other intently for a long moment. Tina reaches towards her and holds her hand to the side of Bette’s face and smiles at her.

(Tina) I have to say, it’s been lovely, this time with you

Bette leans into her hand and looks back at her.

    (Bette) It has

    They both smile.

(Bette) And I know you have to regret it, but it was a pretty good kiss though

Tina gives a small laugh and they smile at each other. Tina raises her eyebrows and nods.

(Tina) It was a great kiss

They both smile and Tina then leans in and kisses her on the cheek.

(Tina) I’ll see you tomorrow night

    (Bette nods) OK

The next evening, Tina pulls into Bette’s driveway with Angelica alongside her in the passenger seat. She turns off the ignition and turns to her.

    (Tina) How are you feeling?

(Angelica nods) I’m fine Mom. I just want to see her

    (Tina smiles) OK

They make their way to the front door and Angelica goes to get her key from her backpack, pausing when she sees Tina casually reach into her handbag for hers as she continues talking.

(Tina) It’s fine to feel nervous, or to not be sure how to act. This is a very strange situation, and I’m right here if you want to talk about anything

    1. What an interesting turn in this very intriguing story, katynd. Angie’s observations and what she knows about both her parents’ recent and past feelings to each other are important pieces of the puzzle. Hopefully, we’ll find out what really happened between Bette and Tina before the accident and if there’s a chance those hurts can eventually heal and they can rebuild their present-day relationship. I loved Bette and Angie’s wordless but very emotional reunion and Tina joining the emotional family hug.❤ Thank you so much for this lovely, well-written gem, katynd!❤ I don’t even remember the last time I was able to leave a comment to any of your stories but please know that I always read your stories and look out for a new chapter. Before I checked out this latest chapter, I was enjoying rereading “Political Persuasion”. God, I love that story!❤ So many thanks again and enjoy the rest of the day, katynd!:)

      • Couldn’t have said it better!

I’m dying to know what happened that Bette is supposed to hate Tina.

Although Bette seems to hate Tina for a long time if we have to believe Tina and their friends, she told Angie a lot about their early years, so the love has been buried deep but never went away.

I really hope that when Bette get her memory back they can rebuild their friendship and their relationship.

    2. I didn’t expect that relavation at all! Wow. So Tina keeps her true feelings to herself because she thinks Bette doesn’t like her, Bette tells everyone that she hates Tina. Seems like Angie and Bette have a lot to talk about. I hope that Angie will give Bette more insights to why she “officially” pretends to have moved on from Tina. Maybe she can tell her about her absent girlfriend as well.
Angie could be the key to change her mother’s relationship for the better. Love it!

I’m repeating mysef but this version is so so so good. Really can’t wait for the next chapter.
