(Tina laughs) Is it?

Helena smiles and looks to Tina.

(Helena) Yes, well, what do they say? We’ll be friends forever because we know too much

Tina smiles at her, and Alice looks to Helena.

(Alice) Go on, tell us something

Helena has a sip of wine and smiles at Tina.

(Helena) OK, I’ll tell you something

(Dana) I’d be worried Tina, with that look on her face

Tina laughs, keeping her eyes fixed on Helena.

(Tina) I’m not worried, I think Helena knows where the line is

Helena smiles at her and then turns to Alice.

(Helena) What category of story are you wanting? College? Dating disasters? Backpacking?

(Alice) All of the above. Oh my God I’m so excited

Helena laughs.

(Helena) You have to choose Alice

(Alice) Backpacking

(Shane) I thought you’d say college

(Alice) Fuck, you’re right, that’s better

She looks back to Helena.

(Alice) College

Alice continues to look to Helena in anticipation, smiling and with eyebrows raised. Tina watches her for a moment and laughs.

(Tina) Sorry Al, why are you so interested in hearing an embarrassing story about me?

Alice looks over at her and laughs.

(Alice) I don’t know actually

Tina laughs and they smile at each other affectionately. Alice looks back to Helena.

(Alice) Should we do a sub-category? Sex? Drinking? Illegal activity?

(Tina) Jesus. I’m really not that interesting

Helena smiles as she has a sip of her drink and thinks for a moment, and Alice watches her expectantly. Tina sighs and turns to Bette and they both laugh. Bette moves her arms around her and pulls her closer.

(Bette) Do you want me to try to put a stop to this?

(Tina smiles) I appreciate the sentiment, but I don’t think you have much chance at that

Alice calls out to them.

(Alice) No chance. And you’re next Porter, by the way

Bette smiles and shakes her head.

(Alice) OK, a college relationship story. Not your relationship though, a different one

Tina sighs and Bette tightens her hold around her waist and kisses her on the shoulder. Tina smiles and reaches back and places her hand on the back of Bette’s head.

(Tina) I kind of like our friends bonding, even if it is at our expense

Bette smiles.

(Bette) Me too

Bette kisses her on the neck and Tina smiles.

(Helena) Tina once broke up with someone by failing to mention she had returned early from a Semester abroad. They found out by seeing her out with someone else

They all look at Helena with eyebrows raised and Alice gives a small laugh. They all then turn to Tina, who is also looking at Helena with raised eyebrows.

(Tina) Apparently you don’t know where the line is. That’s a terrible story to tell

Helena shrugs and laughs.

(Helena) Oh come on, we both know there are far worse things I could have said

Tina smiles and throws a cushion at her. She then glances around at the group and shrugs.

(Tina) I was eighteen. I wanted out and I panicked

They all smile.

(Alice) Bette once broke up with someone by saying she was sick and needed to focus on her health

(Bette) Jesus, Alice!

Shane has a sip of beer to stifle a laugh.

(Alice) What? You just said you like us bonding

Tina smiles at Bette and then looks back to Alice and Helena.

(Tina) I know you two are having fun, but I think let’s move on from this

Helena smiles and Alice sighs.

(Alice) OK

A notification comes through on Helena’s cell and she checks it and then looks up at everyone.

(Helena) My car is here, so that’s me I’m afraid. Does anyone need a lift anywhere?

They all decide to call it a night and make their way with Helena, and Bette and Tina stand together in the front doorway seeing them out. Bette wraps her arms around Tina’s waist and kisses her gently on the shoulder.

(Bette) That wasn’t my finest hour, that break up

Tina looks over her shoulder at Bette and smiles.

(Tina) You panicked too?

(Bette sighs) Yes, I did. I wasn’t eighteen though

Tina nods and pulls Bette’s arm around herself more tightly.
