Chapter 12
Tina raises her hands as she glances around the room.
(Tina) OK, I hear you Al. I’m leaving
She looks to Bette.
(Tina) I’m sorry. She’s right, I need to leave
Tina steps away and moves towards the door and Bette and Alice share a look before Bette moves to follow Tina out of the room. She catches up to her in the passageway approaching the cloakroom and calls out to her over her shoulder.
(Bette) Tina
Tina continues on without looking back, reaching the cloakroom and handing her slip to the attendant, who disappears into the back room to find Tina’s coat. Bette comes to a stop a couple of paces away.
(Bette) Can you please talk to me?
Tina looks straight ahead as she waits for the attendant to return, avoiding Bette’s eyes.
(Tina) Al’s right, I’ve lost my mind, the way I’ve been behaving. I don’t know what I’ve been thinking
She rubs her forehead, talking to herself more than to Bette.
(Tina) I need to go to Toronto
Bette raises her eyebrows, and Tina looks over and meets her eyes.
(Tina) I’m going to tell Sarah everything that’s been happening. All of it. And hope that we can move on from this
The attendant arrives back and places Tina’s coat on the counter. Tina turns to them and thanks them, and Bette watches her, taking a breath before speaking.
(Bette) How can you get married when you’re still in love with me?
(Tina) Jesus
Tina glances over at Bette, giving her a look of warning. The attendant looks between them and then steps away, and Tina focuses back on Bette once the attendant is out of earshot.
(Tina) Bette, I’m not having this conversation with you
(Bette) Are you in love with her?
Tina looks away and shakes her head.
(Bette) It’s a fairly straightforward question Tina
Tina turns to face her, raising her voice and hitting her palm on the counter with each word.
(Tina) You. Don’t. Want. This
Bette winces, holding her gaze.
(Tina) How many times do I need to tell you that?
Bette takes a breath and speaks calmly.
(Bette) You can keep telling me and telling me. I’ll still think it’s bullshit

Tina is running scared, I hope she ends her engagement because it is the right thing to do. I would not want to marry someone who is in love with someone else. I also hope once Bette regains her memory, she remembers the time she spent with Tina. Will be interesting to read which one finally admits to the other they are in love and want them back. Is Bette’s reason because she thinks Tina would be better off with someone else? Looking forward to the next chapter. Love your story
Wow! The plot thickens. Damn you Alice but thank you Alice. They had enough cheating in their past, they have to get together again while clearly being single.
Kit’s take on the situation is very sweet. Getting to know her sister at an age that she previously missed.
Bette seems to be right about Julia. I guess Bette pretended to be with her only to come with a plus one to Tina’s engagement party. I do hope that Angie will be able to shed some more light on Bette’s behaviour towards Tina.
It’s going to be even more complicated now that Tina goes to Toronto. Maybe it’s time for some heartfelt letters from Bette.
Waiting for the next part will be tough! I’m so looking forward to it :)
Wow! Why did Bette just walk away? Why did she not tell Tina she was still in love with her? Tinas basically asked her permission to get married and Bette said nothing? The plot thickens! PPS
Well, I must say that I cannot figure Bette out. What was her thinking not to have a discussion when Tina ask if there was a chance for her and Bette before accepting marriage. Then again, if Tina was going to give Bette another opportunity to be in her life, why accept a marriage proposal with Sarah? Does this not indicate that Tina is not ready for that relationship either? That to me makes not sense either. Tina moving forward with Sarah because when she has feelings for Bette will only lead to heartbreak for both Tina and for Sarah. If I were advising Tina, I would tell her to go do some self evaluation and meditation and not to do anything until Bette has recovered her memory…. nothing with Bette and nothing with Sarah. Bette could regain her memory and conclude that her Tina avoidance was nothing but a façade’. Tina needs to make her choice based on her own happiness and if that means Bette…. it means Bette. But it obviously does not mean Sarah… for she is not “in love” with Sarah.
Thanks for the chapter…
Yessssssssssssss this episode was EVERYTHING and MORE!!!!! That argument scene was theee best. I love how Bette was challenging her and fighting. She was trying but I understand Tina doesn’t want to get hurt again. I love this story sooo much. I’m always anticipating and counting like ok I think I’m going to see this story title pop up today. Thank you ! I’m ready and patiently waiting for the next chapter.
