Hit Dance Floor
The two women were momentarily lost in each other’s stare. They were the only two bodies who stood motionless amongst a sea of thrashing women.
Bette was the first to gather her bearings. She smiled at the beautiful blonde standing in front of her. Tina returned the smile shyly. She was the first to break eye contact, looking down for a split second just to center her breathing before looking back up at Bette with a more confident smile.
“Hi,” Bette was the first to speak, but breathed out her greeting making it impossible to be heard over the loud music and club.
Oh my God, she speaks, Tina thought. Even though she couldn’t hear her, she read her lips. Her full, plump, kissable lips.
“Hi,” her own greeting was barely above a whisper on her smiling lips.
Just then, it hit Bette that this woman may have just been trying to get through the dancing crowd and more than likely had a jealous girlfriend nearby.
Bette took a step forward and to the side stretching her neck closer to the side of Tina’s head so she could hear what she was about to say. Tina instinctively cocked her head to the side leaning her ear towards Bette.
“I’m sorry, were you trying to get by? Am I in your way?” she asked, her volume level higher to drown out the sounds of the rest of the club.
At the sound of Bette’s spoken voice, Tina slowly closed her eyes and let the angelic sound resonate throughout her entire being. The actual words processed a second later and she realized that she hadn’t answered yet.
Tina re-opened her eyes and stuttered, “Oh, um…” she turned to face Bette again and her grasp of the English language escaped her as she was mere inches from those dreamy lips. Breathing a chuckle at her own bashfulness, she swallowed and could only softly shake her head with the same shy smile as before.
Is she staring at my lips? Bette wondered. She devilishly wet them with the tip of her tongue before leaning in close again and asking, “Would you like to dance with me?”
As soon as the words escaped the lips Tina was entertaining erotic thoughts about, “Say It Right” began to cross-fade into “Crazy For You” by Madonna. The blonde nodded her head in response to the brunette’s second question of the night and slowly released the breath she was holding.
