    Bette sighs. (Bette) Look I appreciate everyone checking in, I do, but I don’t need anything from any of you Alice raises her eyebrows. (Alice) Well OK, but can we see you? We had plans to go to the Planet tonight but we don’t have to do that. Just whatever you feel like (Bette) Al,

    Bette sighs.

    (Bette) Look I appreciate everyone checking in, I do, but I don’t need anything from any of you

    Alice raises her eyebrows.

    (Alice) Well OK, but can we see you? We had plans to go to the Planet tonight but we don’t have to do that. Just whatever you feel like

    (Bette) Al, I’m just going to stay in. You don’t need to worry about me, really. I’ll speak to you soon


    That evening, Bette’s doorbell rings and she makes her way to the front entrance, opening the door to Shane. They look at each other for a long moment and Bette raises her eyebrows and sighs.

    (Bette) Is it just you?

    (Shane) The others are in the car. If I have any luck with you they’re going to try and join us

    Bette leans on the doorframe and looks towards the driveway.

    (Bette) Why is everyone being so persistent?

    (Shane) We’re worried about you. Everything you’ve had to take in recently, and then whatever it is that’s happened now with Tina is obviously bad

    Bette looks to her and Shane shrugs.

    (Shane) Obviously we’ll go if you want us to, but we just wanted to check

    Bette raises her eyebrows.

    (Bette) Again

    (Shane smiles) Yes, again

    Bette nods, thinking it over for a moment.

    (Bette) You can come in if we don’t talk about Tina

    (Shane nods) OK

    Bette nods towards the driveway as she steps back into the house.

    (Bette) Tell Alice that too

    (Shane smiles) OK

    Shane turns back to the driveway to get the others and Bette makes her way to the kitchen.

    Alice, Shane and Dana arrive in the kitchen and place the beers and pizza boxes they are holding on the bench, and Bette smiles at them as she fetches a water pitcher and some glasses from the cabinet. Bette and Alice meet eyes as Bette moves back to the bench, and Alice raises both hands.

    (Alice) Shane passed on your message. I won’t bring her up

    (Bette nods) Thank you

    They serve up the pizzas and hand around the beers, and then they all settle around the bench. They fall into an awkward silence as they eat, each sipping on their beers and glancing at one another. Bette looks between them all and frowns.

    2. Glad Tina ended her engagement and realized Sarah deserved someone who loved her. I know they are the same character, but I am going to miss this Bette with Tina. We really don’t know the current Bette other than she doesn’t want Tina in her life. Another great chapter, always looking forward to the next.
