Bette and Tina were getting more comfortable with each other and they had shared an eventful weekend together starting the long process of reexamining their past relationship and working on building a new one for their future. They were both determined to make this attempt last work and endure.
Tina’s revelation concerning her parents and her upbringing on Sunday had been a shock to Bette to say the least. She never had any clue as to the devastating childhood Tina and her brother Jack had undergone at the hands of their abusive parents. Bette was resolute in her support of Tina and vowed to help in any way she could.
She was so very proud of how Tina had finally had the courage to put a voice to her deep seeded problems. Bette imaged it must have been a monstrous task to overcome years of abuse and emotional harm. She was determined to bestow on Tina all the love she had in her to share and hoped it would be enough this time for them to make a lasting chance at a reconciliation.
This Tuesday afternoon, they were meeting Shane, Quiara, Helena and Dylan at Shane’s new café, Dana’s, for lunch to reconnect with their friends.
All six members of their group were seated at an extra-large rounded booth to accommodate everyone. Each couple is sitting beside their spouse or in the case of Bette and Tina, former spouse. Soft drinks and appetizers had been delivered to the table courtesy of Shane as the friends shared recent updates with each other.
“This place is amazing Shane.” Tina tells her longtime friend as she looks around the café/bar taking in all the details. “Dana would have been so happy you did this in her honor.”
“Yes, I thought she would have gotten a great laugh out of it.” Shane explains as she smiles at her friends. “I wanted her to have some part in our lives and what better way than have a little part of her with us every day.”
“I agree.” Bette smiles. “She would be so flattered.”
“She was so goofy at times.” Helena remembers, sipping her sparkling water. “I just loved her spirit.”
“Well, I hope that she will live on here with all of us.” Shane says as she squeezes Quiara’s hand and plants a kiss on it’s back.
