    Chapter 18

Bette looks at him from her desk.

(Bette) Thank you James, I think that’ll be all

    (James) She called this morning

Bette sighs and looks at him pointedly.

    (Bette) James

James raises his hands in defeat and leaves.

A week later, the Planet. Bette, Alice, Shane and Dana are having coffee.

(Alice) And is she still trying to contact you?

(Bette sighs) I wouldn’t know. I’ve blocked her calls and asked James to stop relaying any messages. The last call I’m aware of was a week ago

Bette has a sip of coffee and they all look at her for a moment.

(Alice) Would it hurt to hear what she has to say?

    (Shane) Al

    Alice turns to Shane.

(Alice) She’s obviously desperate to contact her. Short of showing up at the  gallery…

(Bette) There’s a good chance she has showed up at my gallery. I also told James to ask her to leave if she does and to not tell me that she’d come

Alice sighs and goes to say something else, but Bette raises her hand and cuts her off.

(Bette) Al, stop it. I have no interest in hearing her explanation or having her break this news to me. I just don’t want to hear it. They’re married by now, what’s the point? She’s looking to assuage her own guilt and I feel zero need to assist her with that

(Alice) Well maybe it could give you some closure

Bette gives her a stern look.

(Bette) I don’t need closure, I need to move on

The following Saturday night, Bette Porter gallery. Bette has been busy with her usual routine of moving around the room and greeting the many high profile guests in attendance. The night has been very successful, with the exhibit well-received by the guests and Bette putting on a typically impressive opening night.

Towards the end of the evening, Tina walks through the main entrance and pauses as she scans the room. She spots Bette in conversation with a small group on the other side of the room, and takes a breath before making her way over. As Bette moves from the group to continue around the room Tina speaks to her from over her shoulder.

    1. Just saw this post! I am working from home and took a break after a long zoom. Thank you, thank you for making my day. I read yesterday’s post and decided Andrew figured out the Tina Bette connection. Why else would he come to Bette’s office, tell Bette of their eloping and then ask for another invitation. He was going to rub it in Bette’s face!!! I believed this was going to get really ugly! But today… today’s post changed my mood for the day! Looking forward to the next post ….sorry it is last for this story!

    2. Well, I must say that I am breathing again…. But Tina is a risk taker… but she always calculates the risk so that she does not get completely destroyed in taking the leap. Hopefully in this choice, she actually really does get it all: the partner who will allow her to be who she is and the one who challenges her and supports her as well… this is who Bette was attracted to and this is who she will be very comfortable living with… no matter where they end up.

Great story….. let’s see how you wrap it up….
