    Chapter 19 (Final Chapter)

Tina frowns and looks over at him.

    (Tina) What do you mean?

(Andrew sighs) It was a final play for you really. Trying to force your hand and have you choose me. I thought the time pressure would have you come to your senses

    Andrew shrugs.

(Andrew) That’s where my head was at at the time

Tina examines him for a moment.

(Tina) Choose you? Did you suspect something with Bette?

(Andrew) I wasn’t certain, but yes. Every time I saw you together I guess the suspicion cemented in my mind. I thought I was just being silly at first, but looking back now it’s so obvious to me that you were so sad at that time. And the only time I saw you happy was when you were around her

He has a sip of his drink and Tina watches him.

(Andrew) It’s why I told Bette about our eloping as well. A bit of bravado on my part, I guess. I wanted her to back off

    Tina continues watching him.

(Tina) You still wanted me to stay, despite all that?

(Andrew sighs) I thought I did

He looks at her and smiles.

(Andrew) But I’m glad now that you didn’t. We deserve better, both of us. And we have it now

Tina smiles at him and places her hand affectionately on his forearm.

(Tina) I’m really happy for you Andrew

He smiles at her and places his other hand over hers.

(Andrew) There was a time where I’ll admit that I wasn’t, but I can honestly say now that I’m happy for you too

Tina re-enters the main room of the reception and approaches Bette, who steps away from the conversation she is in and walks towards her. They each place their hands on the other’s hips as they reach each other.

    (Tina smiles) Hi

    (Bette) Hi

Bette nods with her head towards the terrace Tina has just come from.

    (Bette) Everything ok?

    (Tina smiles) Yes, everything’s fine

Tina brings her hand to the side of Bette’s face, stroking her thumb gently over her cheek.

    (Tina) More than fine actually

Bette smiles and then gestures towards the dance floor.

    (Bette) Shall we?

Tina smiles and Bette takes a step back and takes her hand, and they walk together across the room.

As they reach the dance floor they turn to face each other and Tina steps towards her, bringing her arms up around Bette’s neck as Bette wraps hers tightly around Tina’s back.

As they begin to move slowly to the music they are interrupted by Alice, who calls out to them as she walks past, having spotted a Rhys-Baker she hasn’t yet accosted on the other side of the room.

(Alice) Keep it PG rated you two

They smile at her as she continues past them.

    (Bette) Are you behaving?

(Alice) Not in the least, but don’t worry, I’m Helena’s responsibility tonight

Tina laughs and Bette shakes her head with a smile as Alice moves away.

They continue moving together to the music, and after a while Bette talks softly into Tina’s neck.

(Bette) How are you doing tonight? It must be strange, seeing this other path you didn’t take played out before you. The life you almost lived

Tina leans back and meets her eyes, bringing her hand up to the side of her face and smiling at her.

(Tina) If you’re asking if I have any regrets the answer is no

    Bette smiles.

    (Tina) A resounding no

    They smile at each other.

(Tina) The life we’re building together is everything I could have ever asked for

    (Bette smiles) Me too

They pull each other closer once more and enjoy the feel of the other’s body as they mould together and continue their slow embrace. As Bette’s hands move to Tina’s hips, Tina smiles and talks softly into Bette’s neck.

(Tina) Baby I think I’m about ready to get out of here

They lean back and smile at each other.

(Tina) Besides, if we keep this up we’ll undo all of our good work tonight

    Bette smiles.

    (Bette) Lead the way

They take a step back and both reach for the other’s hand, making their way towards the exit.

    1. Couldn’t wait to get home and read the final chapter. Wonderful story with marvelous writing. Please continue with new posts, you have a great gift. Thanks again for this story.

    2. katynd, thank you for the final chapter. Everyone living happily ever after. I’m glad you included what happened with Andrew. Despite everything he found true love and got his political ambition. Their conversation didn’t feel like she was ever honest with him before she and Bette took off. He deserved better, but then again deception is how Tina gets her ALL. Great story. Great writing.

    3. Nice story… unusual plot line and like nothing else that has been presented. It has the right amount of mystery and surprises. At any point, there were multiple possibilities as to the direction the plot line could take. Fortunately, you took the plot line direction which gives the Tibette fandom the greatest pleasure and enjoyment. We even feel good about Andrew Rhys-Baker in the end, as he get the life he wants as well. As Bette said “he’s just a nice guy.”

I am in hopes that you will present more tales. For me, it takes my mind away from the disaster that is on Showtime.
      Thankyou for this lovely story.

    4. katynd!

Easily one of the most delightful story I’ve read. Really liked how U advanced scenes at just the right time. Liked how Tibette ended up outside the US to make their home, with Bette realizing that she needed to defer to Tina and let her have the primary decision on where they should live.

When Tina arrived home and sashayed to greet Bette in the kitchen with a lengthy hug and squeeze from the back, I thought she was gonna announce that she was pregnant.

I REALLY like how everyone ended up in a ‘win-win’ finally. Looooved your Alice!! Humor and mischief galor!

It was classy that Tina & Andrew spoke freely & honestly. I admire Andrew for admitting that he KNEW that Tina would have been a sorrowful, miserable committed wife in name only had they married. I respect him for NOT letting his Mom push him into the marriage that she wanted so that she could brag about the “eye candy” attached to her son’s arm.

So anyway, I had punched in the 5-star rating from day one. Will re-read the WHOLE story just for the fun of it.

      Be Blessed and stay well

    5. Thanks so much everyone – I’m really touched by all the positive responses and lovely messages. Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment! :)
