Chapter 19 – The Wilkins and the Prestons

Tina: Is everything okay with you Bette?

Bette:  Yeah, sweetie. Everything is fine. I just do not have any energy at the end of the day. Do you think that’s menopause or age?

Tina:  Probably both. Maybe we should call Dr Wilson and see if we need to start taking some vitamins or something that will give us some more energy?

Bette: I don’t think it’s a real problem, yet. We are still sexually active. What two or three times a week? That’s pretty good to two women in their fifties, right?

Tina: Yes, from what Dr Wilson said, it’s probably more than average. I just feel really ready for bed when 9:00 o’clock gets here.  Maybe it’s what we have trained our bodies to do.

Bette: Are you taking a nap in the afternoon?

Tina:  No, I’m not. I am painting at least 6 hours a day. I do some of my paper work for about an hour and then set-up and clean-up is about another hour. And I have to clean myself up and shower and change clothes. So, I really don’t have time to nap.

Bette: Are you taking time for lunch?

Tina:  Yeah, I take about 30 to 45 minutes for lunch. But sometimes I don’t get to it until almost one.  But I do eat lunch every day. Oh, I am drinking water during the day as well.

Bette: Well, you are still a little thin. You haven’t gained your weight back that you lost during your surgery.

Tina:  I’m swimming every day and my painting is a little more physical movement than what I did as a producer. Producers don’t visit the set often unless there are problems. I tried to keep up with the show through the dailies. I wanted the directors to do their jobs and get the performance we wanted out of the actors. And as time went on, people started to believe their own publicity and think they were more important than they actually were. It was my job to bring them back to reality and get us back on schedule and on budget. Every day, I thank my lucky stars that I am married to you and that life is now behind me. I am just now realizing what a stressful profession to have a job in the entertainment world is.  No wonder so many marriages break up for those in the industry. The constant travel and time away from families. People generally just can’t cope with that.
