Chapter 19 – The Wilkins and the Prestons
Bette and Tina had research information of the sex education of children and had discussed their plan and the points they would cover. They hoped to have at session with Daniel at least once a month until they had covered all the information. Each session would take anywhere from one to two hours. By the time he turned 11 on March 15th, they hoped that he would have his base knowledge of what a healthy attitude toward relationships and sex was all about. At least he would have knowledge of the physical changes and the emotional changes and how to relate to others as they were going through the same thing. He would know what Bette and Tina considered appropriate behavior and what was not. In the meantime, they would all be coping with his emotional changes which were beginning to be apparent.
During the week, they talked to Barbara about the weekend only once. She said that she and Joe were still discussing the two trips and they hoped to have an answer soon. Tina told her she understood, but hoped they would at least join them for the Yellowstone trip.
Friday evening came and Bette and Tina spent most of the day out at the Whole Food Grocery getting food for the week. They were also composing their final order for their Thanksgiving meal which they wanted to put in for delivery on the Tuesday morning before Thanksgiving. Getting a fresh turkey, a fresh duck and a fresh chicken was essential to their meal. Of course, they also wanted the fresh vegetables, fruits and herbs which would make the meal special. So, they visited customer service and put the order in. In addition to the groceries, they got a huge tray of freshly made sushi. This was the meal that Tina and Bette wanted as they were considering this to be a date night for themselves. The wine was Tina’s favorite and the sushi included both of their favorites as well as a variety of dips. Due to the size of the order for the following week, the store agreed to deliver it around 4:30 in the afternoon. Tina thought that was perfect.
The afternoon was spent with the two composing their invitation to Thanksgiving dinner which they emailed out just before the groceries arrived. They asked that people come to house about mid-morning and enjoy hor-d’oevres and swim and then dress for dinner which would be served about 1:00 pm. They then thought most of their guest would return home to enjoy some family time. The invitations were complete with an RSVP and asked for a head count. Bette and Tina believed they would have between 20 and 25 people.
