Chapter 19 – The Wilkins and the Prestons

The house had been overrun with workman from the security firm which were installing cameras, locks, and wi-fi boosters. The system would not be functional until next week. But at least the cabana and the house had locks to keep children out of the pool area. But around 4, they all left and asked for an appointment for next week to install the additional computer screens in the kitchen and the laundry room. They wanted to demonstrate to the house hold how it worked and how to zero in on a specific camera and how to review previously recorded material. The lock apps would also be installed on all the cell phones of the residence of the home. Bette set the appointment for 7:00 pm on Tuesday. The system would be accessible via the computer as well as their cell phones.

Bette: So, what are we going to do with all those damn keys?

Technician: I recommend each of you keep a key on your key ring in the event of an electricity outage or an internet glitch but the excess keys?  I’d recycle those with a metal recycle organization. That is quality metal which can be reused for something. I believe that you will rarely use your key unless say you lose your cell phone. But you should have one available if you should need it. Oh, and the camera are only in the hallways, the stairwells, at the doors, the garages and several on the perimeter. There are lights which will come on automatically should they sense movement and records whatever the camera sees. We will go over that on Tuesday.

Bette: Well, thank you. I look forward to it.

The groceries for the weekend and the following week arrived. Bette and Tina planned on having James and his family as well as Paris and Jeanette on Saturday night. And they expected a rather normal week to follow except that they would be leaving Thursday night for New Haven and would return on Friday night.

Tina: Did you talk to Angie on Monday night?

Bette:  Yes, she told me that Suzanne would be coming with her for Thanksgiving. It seems that her grandmother has moved into their home and has taken Suzanne’s room. They had not planned on her coming home until Christmas break. And Suzanne will be sharing a room with her grandmother when she does go home. And all of that was communicated to her on Sunday evening.
