Chapter 19 – The Wilkins and the Prestons

Margaret: Does that mean you two are going to have children?

Jeanette: We have not reached that decision as of yet. If we do, it won’t be in the near future. Paris and I are going to have a period of adjustment where we will be reset our lives, our priorities and our future goals. We will not bring children into our lives until we are ready to commit to that. And one thing is for certain, we will not have any natural children. We will adopt children if we have them.

Bette: Well, even though I never experience pregnancy, having a baby is a remarkable experience. But it’s not for everyone. Children are really a life time commitment. You may get them to the point where they are self-sufficient and live independently of you. But they are never far from your thoughts.

They then received a phone call from Daniel.  He seemed somewhat irritated. It came in on Tina’s phone. Tina stepped away to take it.

Tina: Hey Daniel, what’s going on?

Daniel:  Mr. Wilkins told us that you asked their entire family to go to Yellowstone with us, but you didn’t ask them to go to Scotland with us. Why didn’t you ask them to go to Scotland with us? You just asked John David. And now Mr. Wilkins does not know if John David is going to be able to go with us to Scotland.  Why Mom?  Why didn’t you ask them to go Scotland with us?

Tina: Daniel, where are you right now?

Daniel:  I’m in John David’s room. We have had our dinner and we were going to watch a movie. The more I thought about it, the madder I got.  This is just not fair Mom. I want John David to go with us to Scotland. And he may not get go. Isn’t there something you can do so that he can go?

Tina: Daniel, I am going to explain to you what we have done and why we did it. But not tonight and not over the phone. You’ll be home tomorrow and your Mama and I will talk to you about it then.

Daniel:  No, I want to know now! Why Mom?

Tina: All right, then Bette or I will come and get you and bring you home. And then we will talk. How soon can you be packed and be ready to go?
