Chapter 2
Driving to school that morning lived up to that motto, I had left earlier to avoid having to drive Eric in as his car was in the shop and I as the loving girlfriend had been stuck for the last few days giving him a ride. Little did I know however was that today would be the day my life started changing forever. Just as I pulled up at a stop sign, I noticed a blue Saab pulled off the side of the road ahead clearly having some form of engine problem. Without thinking I signalled to pull over and hopped out my car. The noise of my door slamming shut alerted the driver to my presence and a head popped up from under the bonnet…
“Hey miss Porter, having problems?”
“Good morning, Christina. Uh, yes, who knew those warning lights actually mean something and shouldn’t be ignored.” She laughed.
“Well, I can’t offer any mechanical aid, however if you need a ride, I’m going the same way.” I winked.
Smooth Kennard, real smooth. You’ve just winked at your teacher, she’s gonna think you’re a moron.
A smile lit up her face, clearly, she was trying to stop herself from laughing at me.
“You’re offering me a ride to school?”
“Sure, why not?”
“Well, I mean, won’t that cramp your style? Being seen with the teacher.”
“I doubt you could cramp anyone’s style!”
Oh God! Shut up Kennard! At her surprised look from my statement, I kept going.
“What I mean is, is um, that, I’m seventeen, I have no style to cramp!” Yep, moron.
Laughing she replied, “your cute…sweet!” “Sweet, your sweet!” “And yes, if the offer stands I‘d really appreciate a ride.”
As I climbed back in my car, she got her bags and locked up the Saab. Dumping her stuff on the backseat she got into the passenger seat thanking me again.
“So, how are you enjoying are dreary little town?”
“It’s not that bad” looking at me she added “It’s definitely got its pros…and cons.”
“So, Christina.”
“Tina!”
“Pardon?”
“It’s Tina. Only family or people I don’t like call me Christina.”
“Ok then, Tina. If I remember correctly you want to run off to Hollywood and be in movies.”
“Not in them, just make them. I am strictly a behind the scenes person.”

They both are in so much trouble.
Teacher-student relations often end badly and according to the prologue, this will be the case. That said, there are exceptions, Macron and his Brigitte in France for example !
Interesting story, can’t wait to read more soon.
You are right about that, given the prologue i do think it didn’t end well for them, especially for Bette.
I’m enjoying this interesting story. Looking forward to see the developments in Bette & Tina’s relationship.
Highlights for me – The earring, as a true Tibette fan, I loved that moment when their eyes locked and they were holding hands.
And, yes! – The Shawshank Redemption is one of the best movies and an all-time favorite of mine.
