    Tina raises her eyebrows and Bette smiles weakly at her.

    (Bette) Where are we at in 2017?

    Tina takes another breath and continues looking at her.

    (Tina) Bette, this is a lot to take in. I think let’s have a discussion about that later

    Bette furrows her brow.

    (Bette) I’d like to know now. You know me Tee, I like to have all of the information. Please, tell me about our life now

    Tina continues looking at her uncertainly.

    (Bette) Do we live in the same house? Do we have kids? Pets? You always wanted pets

    She smiles at Tina.

    (Bette) And kids. Pets and kids

    Tina looks back at her for a moment before looking down to the floor and frowning.

    (Tina) Bette I really think we should discuss this another time

    Bette frowns as she takes in Tina’s nervousness.

    (Bette) Tee, tell me

    Tina looks to her and takes a breath before speaking.

    (Tina) You live in the same house. I live somewhere else

    Bette examines her for a moment.

    (Bette) Sorry, what are you saying?

    (Tina) Bette, we’re no longer in a relationship. We haven’t been for a long time

    Bette frowns at her as she searches her face.

    (Bette) Why on earth would we break up?

    Tina raises her eyebrows.

    (Tina) I think I’ll put my foot down on us definitely not getting into that right now

    Tina’s cell rings and she looks at the screen and then puts the phone aside, as Bette watches her closely.

    They are interrupted by the doctor entering the room, and Tina looks to them while Bette keeps her eyes on Tina.

    (Doctor) Are you ready for me?

    (Tina nods) Yes

    Tina looks back to Bette.

    (Tina) Bette I need to make a phone call, and I’ll leave you to have this discussion privately

    (Bette) Are you coming back?

    Tina holds her gaze for a moment.

    (Tina) Yes, I’m coming back

    Bette looks at her for another moment and then nods.

    (Bette) OK

     

    Later, Tina re-enters the room once Bette has finished speaking to her doctor and moves to sit down on a chair set up alongside the bed. Bette follows her with her eyes from her position sitting on the edge of the bed.

    1. Interesting story… seems I have read a similar one in the past year or so, Only in that story it was Tina who had retro-amnesia instead of Bette. So let’s see where this goes… Bette seemed a bit distant from Tina prior to the accident. They did truly seem like they had been divorced or separated a long time.

      I find it funny perhaps awkward that in Bette’s current state that she is ready to break up with her girl friend (Julia) immediately yet she cannot remember her name. Anxious to see what happens next…
