    Chapter 2

(Alice) I don’t know! Just be nice to her. Speak nicely

Bette takes a breath and starts to move towards the couch.

(Alice) Oh and ask her if I should cancel her party tomorrow night

Bette looks back at her and shakes her head as she moves away.

Alice looks to Shane and Dana who are both frowning back at her.

    (Alice) What?

Bette sits down beside Tina on the couch.

    (Bette) Hey

(Tina sighs) Baby, I want to go home. Why does everyone keep staring at me from the kitchen?

Bette takes a breath and looks back at her.

(Bette) I’m going to say something here and I want you to just listen, OK?

Tina studies her for a moment.

    (Tina) OK

(Bette) Tina, something has happened that has made you think that it’s 2002, when really it’s a long time past that. You have been seeing someone called a hypnotherapist recently and it’s made you think that it’s a long time ago. But we’re going to have her fix this

Bette takes another breath and Tina continues frowning at her.

(Bette) It’s 15 years later than when you think. You and I are no longer together. You’re very successful in your career and you live in a beautiful house not far from here

(Tina) Did you say we’re not together?

Bette holds her gaze for a moment.

    (Bette) We’re not together

Tina’s eyes glisten as she continues looking at her.

(Bette) We’ll get you in to see this therapist as soon as we can, and until then you can stay here with Alice

(Tina) I can’t stay with you?

    Bette smiles gently.

(Bette) I’m sorry, it’s not a good idea

They look at each other for another moment.

(Bette) Are you OK? This is a lot

    Tina nods.

(Bette) Do you believe me? Or does it all just sound ridiculous?

(Tina sighs) Both I guess. It sounds ridiculous, but everyone has been so strange today I was trying to make sense of everyone losing their minds simultaneously. I guess it makes more sense it’s just me that’s crazy

(Bette smiles) You’re not crazy. I think your therapist might be though

Tina smiles and glances towards the others in the kitchen.

(Tina) It also goes a long way to explaining why everyone looks so strange. It’s been weirding me out all day

(Bette smiles) You mean everyone looks old?

Tina looks back at her and smiles.

(Tina) Not you baby, you look great

Bette raises her eyebrows and smiles, and Tina smiles back at her. Bette eventually breaks eye contact, looking downwards for a moment before continuing.

(Bette) There’s something else I need to tell you

    Tina frowns.

    (Tina) OK

Bette pauses for a long moment and Tina takes a breath.

    (Tina) You’re making me nervous

    Tina continues watching her.

(Tina) Do you have a partner?

Bette looks up at her with raised eyebrows.

    (Bette) Ah, no, I don’t

(Tina) Do I have a partner?

Bette smiles and shakes her head.

(Bette) No. Well, at least not that I’m aware of

They look at each other for a moment, and Bette takes a deep breath.

(Bette) We have a child. A daughter

    Tina raises her eyebrows.

(Bette) She’s 12. Her name is Angelica

A smile comes over Tina’s face and Bette can’t help smiling back.

(Bette) She’s wonderful, and has your eyes

Tina reaches out and takes hold of Bette’s hand and continues smiling at her. Bette takes another moment, looking down at their hands held tightly together. Bette continues looking down as she continues.

(Bette) She leaves for school camp on Monday. I think it’s best if we try and sort all this out before she sees you

Tina slowly withdraws her hand and continues looking at her.

    (Tina) OK

    Bette looks up at her.

(Bette) I need to go now, I need to pick her up actually. But you’re safe here with this lot. They’ll take care of you

    (Tina) Are you coming back?

    Bette looks at her again.

(Bette) Yes, I can come back. Not tonight, but I can see you tomorrow

    (Tina nods) OK

    Comments

    1. Omg…. fifteen years! That is a huge amount of time to lose overnight. And to think this was the time that Tina was the happiest in her life. And now its going to all come crashing down when she is returned to reality. Maybe this will turn on a light for Bette and for Tina and show them that they do need each other in their lives. This is an interesting story arch…. cannot wait to see how this goes.

      Thanks for the update.

    2. It’s so sad Tina lost 15 years and she took it really good so far as Bette told her they are no longer together and have a daughter together.

Maybe this is indeed a chance for both of them to look back and talk what went wrong in those 15 years and hopefully find each other back. It pained my heart that especially Bette was so cold as ice to Tina in the first chapter. I really want to know what happened.

Waiting patiently for the next chapter!

    3. I just read chapter 2 while I’m out and honestly I love this fic and it’s very clear Bette and Tina are still in love.
