Chapter 2 – The Porch Scene
“T, are you okay?”
“Yea, just hot.”
“Is that all?”
“What do you mean?”
“You seem…um…I don’t know…stressed?”
“I’m sorry. No baby, I’m not stressed. I just want today to be perfect for us.” She paused to kiss Bette’s slight pout. “For you.”
Tina kissed Bette’s upper lip again, then kissed her again, taking Bette’s lower lip between her own. And then again, this time more fervently, bringing her hand to the folds of Bette’s ivory sweater pulling her in tighter. “I just want you to have everything you deserve today.” Tina kissed her harder, bringing her hands to cup Bette’s face, her thumbs stroking her beautiful cheekbones. “Mmm, I can’t get enough of you, baby.” Tina smiled into another kiss as Bette responded with her hand moving up Tina’s thigh, squeezing it before continuing to between her legs.
They both giggled like teenagers as they continued to make out on the porch steps. Tina’s hand was inside Bette’s sweater while Bette’s thumb roamed over the middle seam of Tina’s linen pants. Tina pulled away first, licking her own lips. “I won’t be able to walk down the aisle if we go another round.”
Bette’s full smile at her fiancé’s honesty creased the lines around her eyes. She brushed her lips over Tina’s forehead before bringing her own to rest upon the blonde’s. Entwining their fingers, Bette released a heartfelt sigh.
“I love you, Tina Kennard.”
“I love you, Bette Porter.”
“Aww this is cute.” Both brides turned their heads in sync to look at Shane standing at the bottom of the steps. Shane was grinning, wagging her finger between the couple, “I know what you were doing,” she continued in a singsong voice, “like nothing has changed.” Shane was overcome with emotion watching her friends play with each other’s fingers. She dropped her head, took a deep breath, and placed her hand on her chest. Bette and Tina tilted their heads as one at Shane’s genuine reaction. “Still gives me hope. I love it.”
“Good morning,” Bette said dreamily.
“Good morning to you! And happy 2nd wedding day! Are you having any deja vu?”
Bette and Tina looked at each other. Bette couldn’t stop smiling while Tina smacked her lips together, lost in the brown puddles of Bette’s eyes. Tina shook her head as Bette replied no.

So the morning begins… Tina and her hot flashes… nerves and Alice having not taken care of everything that she was suppose to… Oh well… This is an omen… not going to be the perfect day…
