Chapter 22 – Thanksgiving Week
Mary: I got it. Maybe they will want to borrow something.
Tina: I’ll pay for their dresses if they purchase one.
Mary: Don’t worry about it, Tina. I got this. I would love to buy my granddaughter and her friend a formal gown to wear to my daughter’s wedding.
Tina: I’m taking Bette her breakfast. You are in charge. I should be back down around lunch time. If I’m not, well, you are in charge of lunch.
Mary: Sounds serious Tina. Is Bette, okay?
Tina: Yeah, she’s good. She just needs a little TLC. Okay, let me load my serving cart and get our breakfast upstairs.
Tina was off pushing her room service cart to the master suite. Bette was still asleep and had not moved since Tina left. Tina started to set up the table for breakfast. Bette smelled the coffee and heard Tina rattling around and began to wake up. Once Tina had almost everything set up, she went over and sat on the bed and leaned over and kissed Bette good morning. Bette smiled and then allowed her eyes to open.
Bette: Morning T…… you’re dressed. And is that coffee I smell?
Tina: Yes dear, that is coffee you smell. Would you like to get up and have some? I have your breakfast ready. And I am hungry and want you to eat with me.
Bette: You’re hungry?
Tina: Yes, I am. Aren’t you?
Bette: Yeah, a little. But I want some of that coffee mostly. The smell is driving me to distraction.
Tina: Come on. Let me get your robe. Go pee and come get yourself a little coffee. We are going to eat here at the table.
Bette swung her feet out from under the sheet and sat up and stretched. Tina came over with the robe and helped her put it on. And then Bette was off to the bathroom. Tina then served the food and poured the coffee.
Bette: Did I forget some holiday that we are supposed to celebrate? It’s not my birthday and it’s not your birthday nor either of the kids. We just celebrated our anniversary last month. What did I miss?
Tina: You didn’t miss anything. I just wanted to do something special for you. So, I prepared breakfast for you and I to eat in the privacy of our room. Sit and eat before it gets cold.

Great solution for helping Suzanne. I also like the various positive ways for her to repay the loan. Maybe 10 years down the road as she repays the loan it gets distributed again. When she has paid it off they can tell her the truth and they all can create an on going scholarship for deserving Yalie with B & T millions!!!!
So, get writing those 10+ years.
Thanks, I love your work!
You do realize that Suzanne’s solution originated with the investigation of Melvin Porter? Its one of the things that I admire about Bette. She absorbs the nuggets of wisdom which appear from various sources. I do like the fact that Bette and Tina want to help Suzanne but do not want Suzanne to be aware of where this help is coming from. And with this solution, neither Angie nor Suzanne will be in a position of being obligated to the other. If for some reason, their friendship sours, Suzanne will keep her support. And if anything should happen that Bette and Tina do not survive until Suzanne finishes her education, the money will still be there to assist her.
I like Suzanne as a friend for Angie… I like that she has red hair and is studious like Angie and perhaps a little more so. Do not look for any romance ever between Angie and Suzanne… that is just not in the cards and it would be a disaster for both of them.
Thank you for reading and commenting… I appreciate you pointing out Suzanne’s solution.
