    Summary:
    The discussion continues.

    Both women lost in their own thoughts, memories and images . . .

    It was beyond tragic for Tina to think that the thoughtful, dedicated, loving and compassionate woman that she once knew and loved was gone. She couldn’t, wouldn’t accept that possibility. She desperately hoped that beneath Bette’s aloof, hardened demeanor of today, there had to be a trace of the younger, hopeful Bette still there.

    A few more moments passed and Tina dug down deep and finally spoke first.

    “Is she really gone?”

    The blonde had come to stand beside the taller brunette, inside her personal space. All Tina’s anger had dissipated. Brushed away by memories and an eternal hope for some type of future for them together. She all too well remembered that Bette was still multi-dimensional. All at the same time, the brunette could be charming, attentive, gracious as well as distracted, troubled and moody.

    Right now, Bette stood ramrod straight, her back rigid. But Tina sensed the weariness in the brunette’s whip-slender frame. Regardless, Tina placed her right hand on Bette’s left arm, feeling the warmth in the brunette’s bicep underneath her jacket sleeve.

    Bette gasped at the touch. It was a sensation that she found both foreign and yet, familiar. Her whole body was immediately ablaze from the blonde’s innocent, gentle stroke. She wiped around to face Tina straight on.

    “What . . . what are you doing?” Bette felt the blonde’s presence beside her. She swallowed roughly and looked Tina up and down. Heat seemed to radiate off the blonde’s slender body.

    “Trying to find the compassionate Bette Porter I feel in love with.” Tina replied, swallowing the deep ache in her throat. She searched Bette’s eyes, seeking a response, some recognition of the woman she once loved more than anyone or anything else.

    “That . . .  was a long time ago. She . . . “Bette was mesmerized by the look in Tina’s eyes and the utter softness of her voice. It nearly unraveled her. “She . . . doesn’t exist anymore.”

    “You’re wrong.” Tina deliberately stepped closer, invading Bette’s personal space. The doctor could feel the blonde’s sweet breath on her cheek. “I think she does.”

    “You . . .  you know no such thing.” Bette put the glass down and stepped back, bumping into a chair and then righting herself. She took a few steps away from the blonde. Her sanity and emotional health depended on it.

      I’ve loved this story since the first chapter, but this chapter is everything! I love how you built up to the ending of the chapter, them wrestling with their feelings, so well-written. And Tina knows the old Bette is still there.

      Have to say, too, you nailed it in the section where Tina’s emotions over Ashley can’t be contained any longer. Made me tear up.

        Both Tina & Bette are exploring these long suppressed feelings for one another & its turning their worlds upside down once again, especially Bette.

        You’ll get to explore those along with them as we continue onward.

      Sorry to hear about your family but glad it’s going better.

      Be careful with the hurricane season and take care of yourselves.

      You can feel the emotions and struggles both Tina and Bette experience, so good written
      I hope that this will be a small step in the right direction for both of them, hopefully Bette will not close down and bury her feelings for Tina again and that Tina will be gently and patient with Bette to let her open up and let her see they could be a couple again. Because they just belong together!!!

        Thanks for the words about the family – both of y brothers are ding better & the eldest just celebrated his 83rd BD yesterday!! YAY!!

        Back to Tibette & DOH – Bette’s reactions seem to be the biggest question. But I think TK will guide her along with gentleness & care. Totally agree – they DO belong together.

      • Yes, I’m very happy that the health situations with my brothers have improved! Yes, the time with my family was sweet – especially with the youngest nephews & nieces – they all so cute at these ages!!

        Yes, lots of hope & hopefully Bette can get out of her own way & learn to express herself to Tina again.

      Bette is so stubborn sometimes…and Tina is so pushy but I guess we’ll forgive her given the circumstances. I bet the next scene will be Bette running like a rabbit out of the room hahaha !

      Wounder if U and family were taken care of by a “Dr Bette & her team”?? U seemed to be quite insightful in painting that exchange.

      And of course the “lovers world” of our two ladies 4ever remains. Will b interesting to WHEN they will be able to rediscover that part. . .but FIRST! Ashley needs tending to . .

        TBH, I’ve had more than my fair share of family illnesses down through the years. But somehow we managed to survive & deal with the treatments. So, those experiences provided background info for this novel.

        Yes, Ashley has to begin treatment & that will provide the stage for Tibette to interact more closely, leading to rediscovering each other.

      This was a terrific chapter and now I read that you’re posting an update this weekend. Can’t wait. I hope it’s just as good as this one was – I’m sure it will be!
