    Summary:
    The discussion continues.

    “Then tell me what I need to know.” Tina had turned and stared at Bette, determined to get further answers from the doctor.

    “Alright.” Bette’s eyes narrowed ever so slightly, and she tilted her head to the side as if she were considering Tina’s request. She took in a deep breath and then swung back to the business at hand. “Like everyone else, Ashley will still have to progress through the same process as other applicants that apply for any of our treatment programs.”

    “Damn it Bette.” Tina pressed forward in protest again, her defenses up once more. “A process like that could take weeks.”

    “No, not in this case.” Bette sighed.

    “Wait . . . What?” The blonde was trying to understand. “What do you mean?”

    “If you’ll let me explain.” Bette tilted her head in mild annoyance.

    “Oh, yes. Sorry again.” Tina relented, forcing herself to refrain. “Um, please go ahead.”

    “Tina, I’m going to tell you this once and only once.” Bette’s voice was measured and tinged with agitation by the blonde’s constant interruptions. “Please listen and allow me to finish a fucking bloody sentence before you jump down my throat.”

    Tina was stunned into momentary silence by the brunette’s outburst.

    Not that she didn’t deserve it.

    She knew she did.

    She’d been interrupting Bette since they started their discussion. She had to allow Bette to explain.

    Fuck.

    “Sorry.” The blonde murmured as she nodded her head. “I’ll . . .  I’ll try not to interrupt again.”

    “Thank you. You might actually like and approve of what I have to say if you’ll allow me to actually get my words out.” Bette placed her hands on her hips, struggling to keep her temper in check as she stood before the blonde. A true test of her patience.

    “I . . . I guess I’m overacting.” Tina grimaced, suddenly deflated by Bette’s rebuke.

    “Yes, a little.” Bette nodded.

    “I’m just anxious for Ashley.” Tina blew out her cheeks and raised her hands as if in surrender. “You haven’t had to watch her life slip away month after month, day by day.”

    Bette winched. As a doctor, she knew the ravages of disease on a person’s body. How a disease could and would slowly zap all the energy and life from someone. How it left them hopeless and defenseless.

      I’ve loved this story since the first chapter, but this chapter is everything! I love how you built up to the ending of the chapter, them wrestling with their feelings, so well-written. And Tina knows the old Bette is still there.

      Have to say, too, you nailed it in the section where Tina’s emotions over Ashley can’t be contained any longer. Made me tear up.

        Both Tina & Bette are exploring these long suppressed feelings for one another & its turning their worlds upside down once again, especially Bette.

      Sorry to hear about your family but glad it’s going better.

      Be careful with the hurricane season and take care of yourselves.

      You can feel the emotions and struggles both Tina and Bette experience, so good written
      I hope that this will be a small step in the right direction for both of them, hopefully Bette will not close down and bury her feelings for Tina again and that Tina will be gently and patient with Bette to let her open up and let her see they could be a couple again. Because they just belong together!!!

        Thanks for the words about the family – both of y brothers are ding better & the eldest just celebrated his 83rd BD yesterday!! YAY!!

        Back to Tibette & DOH – Bette’s reactions seem to be the biggest question. But I think TK will guide her along with gentleness & care. Totally agree – they DO belong together.

      • Yes, I’m very happy that the health situations with my brothers have improved! Yes, the time with my family was sweet – especially with the youngest nephews & nieces – they all so cute at these ages!!

        Yes, lots of hope & hopefully Bette can get out of her own way & learn to express herself to Tina again.

      Bette is so stubborn sometimes…and Tina is so pushy but I guess we’ll forgive her given the circumstances. I bet the next scene will be Bette running like a rabbit out of the room hahaha !

      Wounder if U and family were taken care of by a “Dr Bette & her team”?? U seemed to be quite insightful in painting that exchange.

      And of course the “lovers world” of our two ladies 4ever remains. Will b interesting to WHEN they will be able to rediscover that part. . .but FIRST! Ashley needs tending to . .

        TBH, I’ve had more than my fair share of family illnesses down through the years. But somehow we managed to survive & deal with the treatments. So, those experiences provided background info for this novel.

        Yes, Ashley has to begin treatment & that will provide the stage for Tibette to interact more closely, leading to rediscovering each other.
