    (Tina) It sounds like she’s doing great then, doing what she’s supposed to be doing (Bette) I worry (Tina smiles) Of course you do They smile at each other again, and the table continues to take in their interaction. The waitress brings over their meals and conversation continues. (Alice) So TK, I thought of something

    They smile at each other again, and the table continues to take in their interaction. The waitress brings over their meals and conversation continues.

    (Alice) So TK, I thought of something else I need to fill you in on. Fifteen years of LA lesbian hook ups!

    Shane raises her eyebrows.

    (Shane) Jesus, settle in Tina, this might take a while

    As Tina listens to Alice give a rundown on the most significant hook ups and break ups she has missed, she eats her salad and distractedly places her other hand on Bette’s thigh.

    Bette takes a sharp intake of breath at the contact, and sits in stunned silence as Tina starts to slowly trace her finger along the seam of her pants.

    Bette looks over at Tina with raised eyebrows and Tina eventually glances her way and meets her eyes. Tina looks at her in confusion for a moment before she realises what she’s doing. She laughs and withdraws her hand, holding both her hands up as Bette smiles back at her.

    (Tina smiles) Sorry

    (Bette smiles) It’s OK

    The others all glance between them, again taking in the friendly exchange.

    They finish their meals and Bette looks at her watch.

    (Bette) OK, I better run. I have to drop in at the gallery

    Bette picks up her jacket and bag and waves to the table. Tina looks up at her.

    (Tina) Bye

    They hold each other’s gaze again.

    (Bette smiles) Bye

     

    Bette moves to the counter and is paying for her meal when Tina approaches her, speaking to her over her shoulder.

    (Tina) Hi again

    Bette turns to her and smiles.

    (Tina) I just wanted to say sorry about earlier. I wasn’t thinking

    (Bette smiles) It’s fine, don’t worry about it

    (Tina) I guess I don’t touch you like that these days

    Bette laughs.

    (Bette) Ah, no, you don’t

    Tina looks at her with a glint in her eye.

    (Tina) This version of me must have incredible self-control

    Bette laughs again and holds her gaze.

    (Bette) I don’t think you need any, it’s really not a problem for you

    (Tina smiles) I seriously doubt that. I don’t care what’s gone on here, there is no way this…

    Tina looks down Bette’s body before raising her eyes and looking at her with a mischievous smile.

    (Tina) Doesn’t have an effect on me

    Tina smiles and Bette looks at her with eyebrows raised for a moment before giving a small laugh and smiling back at her.

    (Tina) Are you coming tonight?

    (Bette) You guys are seriously going ahead with that?

    (Tina nods) Probably a terrible idea, but yes. Will you be there?

    (Bette) Well, actually I’m not exactly invited

    Tina looks to her with her head to one side.

    (Tina) Well, I’m inviting you

    Bette smiles.

    (Bette) I’ll see, maybe I could drop in

    (Tina smiles) OK, I hope so

    Tina continues to smile at her as she turns to return to the table, and Bette stands still and watches her go.

    1. Great chapter!

      I must say Bette as well Tina handle this pretty good, how horrible it must been for them that Tina forgot 15 years it could turn out positive as they get to know each other again. Whatever happened in the past 15 years maybe they can eventually talk it out and make up.

      For them to be so hostile especially Bette, there must be a reason for it and i really want to know what brought them to that point.

    2. Interesting chapter…. Trying to give Tina some information but not too much so that she doesn’t get overwhelmed.

      My bets are that at this party, she is going to find out something that is probably going to upset her. My bets are that she finds out about the carpenter which sets her head spinning. Could that be what finally broke the two up… Tina just never got over the carpenter and Bette figured out that Tina was never going to forgive her, so they decided to break up? But then why is Bette so bitter and distant? Did they ever reconcile after the carpenter? I guess we will find out soon enough…
