Chapter 35 – Labor Day and More

After about five minutes of cuddling Tina, Bette left the bed and proceeded to shower and ready herself for her day. When she came out to dress, Tina had not moved at all but was sleeping hard. When she was ready to walk out the door, she went over to the bed and leaned over and kissed Tina sweetly. Tina awakened and saw that Bette was dressed and ready to go.

Bette: Tina, I just wanted to tell you bye and have a good day. There is no need for you to get up until you are ready. I’m going to get my breakfast out today. Call me when you get up.

Tina: Oh, honey, I can make you some breakfast.

Bette: No, no, you stay in bed. I can take care of myself. Just remember Daniel is here and he will need feeding at some point.

    Tina: What time is it?

Bette: It’s 7:00 am. I’m going in early so I can come home early. I enjoyed last night and I really enjoyed this morning… too. I love you sweetheart. Talk to your later.

She then kissed Tina and quickly left the room so that she could avoid a fuss if one was going to develop. She looked back to see a somewhat stunned but still sleepy Tina.

Bette grabbed her brief case and her keys from the rack and headed out to the garage. She saw the three Ford Fusions and remembered that she had not driven her car in about ten days. She settled into her vehicle, opened the garage door and rolled out. She made sure she closed the garage as she made her way toward UCLA. Along the way, she stopped and bought some coffee, some muffins and a couple of cups of fruit. She doubled her order thinking that her assistant might want a mid-morning snack.

When Bette arrived at her office, her assistant Holly Billingsley had only been at her desk for 10 minutes. She was surprised to see Bette so early.

Bette: Good morning, Holly. You are here rather early.

Holly: Oh, Professor Porter, I didn’t expect to see you here so early. You are the first to arrive.

Bette: Well, I got up early and decided to come on in. Perhaps I can go home a little earlier this afternoon. Tomorrow, I’ll start my regular schedule. Did you have some good time off?
