    Chapter 4

    Bette nods.

    (Tina smiles) Not really, sometimes

(Bette) Not searching out music festivals every weekend then?

Tina smiles and shakes her head.

(Tina) No. I just like doing different things, trying new things. And this sounded interesting

She looks over and shrugs, and Bette smiles.

They arrive at the main lawn and both stop and take in their surroundings. Picnic rugs are scattered around the space and a large crowd has gathered in front of the pavilion, largely lounging around on the blankets or the grass as they enjoy the sun and the relaxed atmosphere. Tina looks over at Bette.

(Tina) Do you think this is another situation that calls for drinking beer?

Bette continues taking in the scene for a moment and then looks over at Tina and smiles.

    (Bette) I do, yes

(Tina smiles) Great, I’ll grab us a couple. Do you want to find us a spot?

    (Bette smiles) Sure

Tina returns a short while later and makes her way over to the blanket that Bette has laid out for them. She hands Bette one of the beers and positions herself alongside her. They sit close together and leaning towards each other as they sip on their beers and wait for the performance to begin.

(Bette) So where did you grow up? There’s a southernness to your accent, is there not?

Tina smiles and raises her eyebrows.

(Tina) You’re observant, I haven’t heard that in a long time

    They smile at each other.

    (Tina) North Carolina

    Bette nods.

    (Tina) Ever been?

(Bette nods) I have, yes. I did a road trip years ago with my college girlfriend and we went through there

    (Tina smiles) Sounds fun

    Bette sighs.

(Bette) Well, actually, we broke up halfway through the trip. So it wasn’t particularly fun

Tina raises her eyebrows and laughs. Bette smiles over at her and Tina shakes her head.

(Tina) Sorry, I just can’t actually imagine much worse. Being trapped in a confined space with an ex for days on end directly following a break-up

Bette smiles and has a sip of beer.

(Tina) Was it as bad as I imagine?

Bette smiles over at her and nods.

    (Bette) It was

Tina laughs and Bette continues smiling at her. Tina has a sip of beer and then turns back to her.

    1. This non-dating thing is unique… no assumptions, no obligations, just in the moment. Yet we the readers can see that they are growing rather fond of each other. Would love to read more…

      Thanks for the chapter…

    2. There’s sooo much these two have in common. They’re both alphas that have been use to having their way. But the problem is . . . They’re now attracted to each other!! Both of them interested . . .
