    Thank you for your letter and resume’.  At the current time, UCLA does not have a position available in the area which you are requesting. However, with your background and experience, you are an ideal candidate to be a member of the UCLA educational staff. As the Dean of the School of Fine Arts, I am honored that you would consider our institution for employment.

    While, I cannot make any definite promises, please allow me 24 hours to meet with the Chancellor and see if we cannot create a position in the Fine Arts Department which would meet your request. If we can, you would be given the title of Professor with no tenure. We would then assign some of the art history and possibly some of the graduate studies classes to your responsibilities. Until I can determine if this is doable, I cannot discuss salary or benefits or schedule.

    Ms. Potter, you are an icon in the art world and having someone of your caliber on our staff would be a real asset to this university.

    Tina:  Well, I am so thankful that Jodi’s stunt failed to ruin your career. UCLA?  That the big leagues!

    Bette:  I didn’t think I stood a chance.

    Tina:  Do you want to hear what agent had to say?

    Bette:  Yeah, sure.

    Tina:  She said that what we want is going to be closer to 3 million than to 2 million. There is just nothing in our initial budget range which will meet our requirements.
