    Chapter 6

    Bette’s office, Bette is standing by her desk sorting through a pile of files and stops to answer her cell.

    (Bette smiles) Hey Tee

    (Tina) Hey, is it a bad time?

    (Bette) No you’re fine, I’m winding down for the day really, what’s going on?

    (Tina) I’ve actually just finished up a meeting right near your office, and I’m not going to bother heading back to mine now. I wondered if you might fancy walking home together?

    Bette smiles.

    (Bette) Wow it’s been a long time since we’ve done that.

    (Tina smiles) I know, I thought it might be nice. And I don’t think we need to completely avoid being seen out together, we are allowed to associate with each other.

    (Bette) Yes I think it’s fine. (Pause) I’ll have to try my best to keep my hands to myself though.

    (Tina laughs) That might be an idea. Well just let me know when you’re ready and I’ll meet you out the front. Don’t rush though, I can get a coffee and do some reading while I wait.

    (Bette) It’s ok, just give me 10 minutes and I’ll meet you out there

    (Tina) Ok great, see you then


    Bette walks out of her building and greets Tina, who is standing waiting for her holding two takeaway coffees. Both their faces light up to see the other. Tina hands her a coffee and they turn to walk down the sidewalk together.

    (Tina) It’s so nice seeing you outside of one of our apartments

    (Bette smiles) I know, the change of scenery is certainly a novelty. How was your meeting?

    (Tina) It was fine. Touching base with a source for a story of one of my colleagues. They’re fine but they just need a bit more reassurance than usual.

    (Bette) So they brought in the heavy?

    Tina smiles at her.

    (Tina) Mmmm, I guess. How was your day?

    (Bette) Good actually – I spoke at a gun control rally this morning.

    (Tina) Oh I heard! We had a team there covering it. They said you were wonderful. Inspiring.

    Bette smiles.

    (Bette) Well that’s nice of them to say, but if the point is to actually inspire change I’m not so optimistic.

    (Tina) Yes, well, there’s a lot of ground to cover. We’re lucky though to have a Senator so passionate about the issue.

    6. Wow…. actually that ending scene was really hot… They are falling in love again so hard…. Bette is not liking her job which sooner or later she will blame it for keeping her away from Tina. If Tina give the slightest hint that she wants to get back together, Bette is in a place that she would give up her career in a heartbeat to have her back. She gave up Tina to have a job, She will not make that mistake (her words) again. Jobs can be gratifying and ego boosting, but they are never permenant. A partner is permenant and life fulfilling if you find the right one. And they have. Keep it going…

        katynd, I love all the references where you mention how Tina “studies Bette”. This is Y she knows she can show up late and lay her hands and seductive words in Bette’s ears. WoW!!!

        She took Bette’s fears (previous lover(s) and shot them down fast.

        • And another thing . . . Tina KNEW that Bette would be cherning in sour bile at how she responded to her own observations and mis-placed words.

          Tina was wise to go to Bette and demonstrate how Bette was responding like “the Bette of old”.

          Bette has always seen Tina as incredibly desirable and figures everybody else does too!!! Poor Bette
