    (Bette) Hey, Tee? Bette moves closer and reaches out to softly touch her cheek. Tina removes her hand and they get lost in one another’s eyes, as Bette’s eyes also glisten. Tina moves towards her and they wrap their arms around each other, holding onto one another tightly as their tears flow more freely. They

    Bette moves closer and reaches out to softly touch her cheek. Tina removes her hand and they get lost in one another’s eyes, as Bette’s eyes also glisten. Tina moves towards her and they wrap their arms around each other, holding onto one another tightly as their tears flow more freely. They stay in that position for a long while, before pulling back and again looking into the other’s eyes.

    (Bette, speaking softly) There are things I’d like to say to you, but I think it would break our rules.

    Bette gently brushes Tina’s hair from her eyes.

    (Bette) Can I say I feel overwhelmed too sometimes, by us spending time together again?

    Tina smiles faintly at her through her tears.

    (Tina) Yes, I think that’s ok to acknowledge.

    They share another smile, and move in for a long, lingering kiss, full of meaning and of all the emotions they are both struggling to keep under control.

     

    A few days later, Tina answers her cell in her office.

    (Tina smiles) Hey

    (Bette) Hey Tee, sorry to call, bad time?

    (Tina) I’ve got a minute, you ok?

    (Bette) Hellish day actually.

    (Tina) I’m sorry. Can you talk about it or does it cross boundaries?

    (Bette) Definitely crosses boundaries.

    Tina smiles.

    (Bette) I know we don’t have plans tonight but I was wondering if you’d be free

    (Tina) Oh I have a work dinner I’m sorry

    (Bette sighs) That’s ok, I know last minute doesn’t usually work for us

    (Tina) Well can I come past afterwards? I guess we can’t talk about whatever it is, but we could have a glass of wine? I could rub your feet, return the favour?

    Bette smiles.

    (Bette) That sounds amazing actually

    Tina smiles.

    (Tina) Ok well I’ll be there as soon as I can, 10 at the latest I’d say

     

    Later, Bette’s apartment. Bette and Tina sit closely next to each other on the couch, wines in hand and leaning towards each other with their legs intertwined. Bette casually plays with the hem of Tina’s skirt while they chat.

    (Tina) Are you attending the benefit on Saturday?

    (Bette sighs) Unfortunately yes

    (Tina laughs) You better get used to these events Porter, that’s basically your life now

    3. Seriously, I wish I’d seen this gf when it was 20 chapters in so I could read and read and read it. In all the chapters, I’m sad when I can see the chapter is coming to an end.

    6. Wow…. actually that ending scene was really hot… They are falling in love again so hard…. Bette is not liking her job which sooner or later she will blame it for keeping her away from Tina. If Tina give the slightest hint that she wants to get back together, Bette is in a place that she would give up her career in a heartbeat to have her back. She gave up Tina to have a job, She will not make that mistake (her words) again. Jobs can be gratifying and ego boosting, but they are never permenant. A partner is permenant and life fulfilling if you find the right one. And they have. Keep it going…

        katynd, I love all the references where you mention how Tina “studies Bette”. This is Y she knows she can show up late and lay her hands and seductive words in Bette’s ears. WoW!!!

        • And another thing . . . Tina KNEW that Bette would be cherning in sour bile at how she responded to her own observations and mis-placed words.

          Tina was wise to go to Bette and demonstrate how Bette was responding like “the Bette of old”.

          Bette has always seen Tina as incredibly desirable and figures everybody else does too!!! Poor Bette
