    (Bette) I pushed myself too much with the swim didn’t I? Tina looks at her with concern as she moves the hair from Bette’s eyes. (Tina) I don’t know, maybe Tina gives her a reassuring smile. (Tina) Let’s just see what they say Bette nods. (Bette) Thank you for not saying I told you so

    Tina looks at her with concern as she moves the hair from Bette’s eyes.

    (Tina) I don’t know, maybe

    Tina gives her a reassuring smile.

    (Tina) Let’s just see what they say

    Bette nods.

    (Bette) Thank you for not saying I told you so

    Tina smiles and takes Bette’s hand, squeezing it reassuringly when she sees the worried look in Bette’s eyes.

    (Tina) Baby I’m sure you’re fine, I just want to take every precaution

    A receptionist answers the call and Tina focuses out the window as she asks to be directed to the appropriate department, and Bette lies still watching her. Tina thanks the receptionist and then continues to wait as the call is transferred, remaining focused out the window.

    After a moment Bette reaches towards her, slowly moving her hand across Tina’s stomach, and Tina takes a breath.

    (Bette) Tee?

    Tina smiles as she continues to look out the window, and she gives Bette a sideways glance.

    (Tina) Can you just pretend you didn’t hear it?

    (Bette smiles) OK

    Tina smiles as she continues to avoid her gaze and Bette watches her, keeping her hand in place. Bette then goes to withdraw her hand, and Tina moves her hand over Bette’s, holding it back in place and entwining their fingers. They sit together in that position as they wait on the call.


    At the instruction of Bette’s doctor they make a trip to the hospital for Bette to be examined. After spending the afternoon there they are then able to return home, with Bette having been instructed not to overdo anything and Tina to keep a close eye on her in case she feels unwell again.

    They arrive at the house and Bette relaxes in the lounge while Tina catches up on some work at the dining room table. They come together for dinner at the bench a while later.

    (Tina) How are you feeling?

    (Bette smiles) OK, I haven’t felt light-headed again but I do feel pretty drained after today

    Tina nods and Bette brings her hand up and rubs her eyes, and Tina watches her.

    (Tina) Do you think you should lie down?

    Bette smiles at her.

    5. They both still need to address the elephant in the room. They are both in relationships. The pull between them is still so strong. They can’t just pretend that they aren’t involved with others. PPS
