    (Bette) Maybe They smile at each other. (Bette) I might head upstairs and read a book in bed Tina nods. (Bette) Do you have more work to do? (Tina) I do, not a lot but there are a few more emails I need to respond to Bette nods. (Tina) Well you go. I’ll clean up

    (Bette) Maybe

    They smile at each other.

    (Bette) I might head upstairs and read a book in bed

    Tina nods.

    (Bette) Do you have more work to do?

    (Tina) I do, not a lot but there are a few more emails I need to respond to

    Bette nods.

    (Tina) Well you go. I’ll clean up here and then I’ll come and look in on you

    Bette nods as she stands from the bench.

    (Bette) Thank you

    Tina smiles at her as she takes their dishes over to the sink.

     

    A short while later, Bette is lying in bed with her book and Tina knocks on the bedroom door. Bette calls out for her to come in and Tina opens the door and smiles at her. Bette looks at her curiously as Tina stands holding her laptop and with her satchel over her shoulder.

    (Tina) May I join you in here? I’m just downstairs worrying about you anyway, and I can keep a closer eye on you

    Bette smiles and nods.

    (Bette) Sure, I’d like that

    They smile at each other as Tina makes her way over to the other side of the bed and sits down next to her, leaning against the headboard and placing her laptop on her knee. Bette smiles as she looks up at her from the other side of the bed, and Tina gives a small laugh as she looks over at her.

    (Tina) Are you going to make this weird?

    (Bette smiles) There is no part of this that is weird to me

    They smile at each other. Tina continues smiling as she focuses back on her laptop.

    (Tina) Behave yourself, or I’ll go

    (Bette smiles) OK

    They lie comfortably beside each other as Tina responds to her emails, and Bette eventually falls asleep. Tina finishes what she is doing and closes her laptop, looking over at Bette and smiling as she watches her for a moment. She then places her laptop aside and Bette stirs slightly, moving closer to Tina in her sleep and bringing her arm around her waist as she nuzzles comfortably into her side. Tina takes a breath as she looks down at her. She smiles as she moves the hair from Bette’s eyes, watching her for another moment. She then reaches over and turns off the bedside light and slips herself further down the bed to lie beside her, and Bette’s arm moves further around her body. Tina smiles and closes her eyes as she relaxes into Bette’s arms and drifts off to sleep.

    5. They both still need to address the elephant in the room. They are both in relationships. The pull between them is still so strong. They can’t just pretend that they aren’t involved with others. PPS
