Chapter 8 – Packing for New York

Daniel opened the back door and Bette reminded him that he should sit up front with her.  He was embarrassed that he had forgotten that.  Bette told him that they were having a meat loaf dinner when they got home.  She also asked him to pack a knap sack for tomorrow with his swim suit, and a change of clothes and some games to entertain himself for her interview.  They would need to be on the road by 8:30 tomorrow morning to get to UCLA by their 10:00 am appointment. She told him that they would be eating at the university and then they would might drive by the Whittington Elementary and look around.  They would then head to Shane’s house for an afternoon of fun and dinner.  They would have an early evening because he needed to get a good night’s sleep prior to his interview and testing which would occur the next day. They need to be at the school at 8:00 am. I think they are going to interview you and me for an hour or so then they will take you off to do your testing. I will remain until you are finished.  I think they will give you an hour to have lunch around noon. You should be finished by 3:00. After you are finished, we will discuss what we will do after that. It depends on how you feel and how much time we have, will determine what we do. If you are required to have uniforms, I would like to get those ordered that afternoon. I assume that they will need to be custom made, but if not, we need to get that little chore done as quickly as we can. By Wednesday, I hope that I have a job and you have a school. I know your mom would be pleased. I am in hopes that we can have some time to have some fun with you and Angie and your mom.

Daniel:  Yeah, this is our last summer before Angie goes away to college. Who knows if we have another one ever where we are all home together for an entire summer? I know that she will be back for holidays and maybe some time in the summer. But she may get a job in the summer and that will limit the amount of time she is around.

    1. Deanna,

Thank you for reading and commenting. We have many more chapters of Volume 2 to go. I will be posting at least 2 chapters per week and some chapters are quite long. My goal was to present Bette and Tina and what life would be like in my view if there had been no Gen Q…. This is the summer the family moves to the Los Angeles area… They are in the process of changing professions, changing homes, getting Angie ready for Yale and getting a school for Daniel. The next chapters are where some of their real work begins. Tina and Angie go to New York to get Angie’s wardrobe ready and Bette keeps Daniel and works with him to get him ready for his new school year. This is the first time Bette and Tina have been apart all summer… hope you enjoy this next few chapters.

Thank you for reading and commenting…
