Dear Diary—Chapter 2
September 17, 1991
Dear Diary,
I’ve died and gone to heaven!!! Today we had a field trip to the Museum of Natural History to see their wax displays for History class. I hate field trips but I was overjoyed about this one because I could stare at Bette longer. I’m starting to sound like a pervert but in my defense I think that I’m a good pervert. If there is such a thing. Anyway, I got on the bus and found a seat near the back that was empty. No one was going to sit with me so I was prepared to stretch out and enjoy.
As the others piled onto the bus, all the seats we being taken up and there was no sign of Bette. My disappointment showed on my face but no one noticed obviously. The driver started the bus and closed the doors. But then I heard her yelling to open the doors and I look to see her running towards the bus. God she is fast. Even if I did chase after her I would never catch her.……Uhmmm….Yeah..Ok?..I know Diary…That was lame.
Anyway, she hurries onto the bus and slowly looks for an empty seat. Her face is looking very disappointed that she’s having to inch her way to the back and as I looked around I saw I was the only one with a space next to me. Oh My God!! She had no choice unless she wanted to sit down in the middle of the aisle….And so she sat down next to me….Yes Diary—Bette Porter thought sitting next to me was better than getting her pretty ass dirty sitting in the aisle…But nevermind that…I got a whiff of her perfume and I froze. My heart was beating out of my chest!! I couldn’t say anything but then she spoke to me. She asked if I could lower the window. I immediately lowered it and she thanked me. I just nodded my head. I’m such a wuss. The whole 20 minute ride was spent with her shoulder brushing up against mine as the bus jostled us around. Jesus Lord Help me!..I was about to faint.
The museum was boring. But stealing glances at Bette was so much fun. She of course hung with her cheerleader friends. She is still seeing Sandra because I overheard her say something about going somewhere with her after the football game tomorrow night.

Bette is very confident…. personally, I am too clumsy to try to read a book in a bathtub full of water. I would drop it and it would be ruined… and there is no replacement for that diary.
Too bad Ms. Applewhite does not remember… but maybe she will later. As we get older, that is the way a mind works… you know that you know something like a name and it takes several hours for the brain to bring that file up and suddenly you will sit up in bed and the name will suddenly be the only thing you can think of. Its just a few hours after you really needed that information….
Thanks for the chapter… keep it coming.
Thanks for posting again so quickly. Enjoying recalling the story and look forward to more.
