    Dear Diary—Chapter 2

After the exciting tour of seeing freaky wax figures we loaded back on the bus and I went back to my seat. Sadly Bette didn’t return to sit next to me. But this nerdy looking boy Tyler did. He was just as nerdy looking as me. And Diary, he actually talked to me. The first conversation I have had with anyone from the school. I think we will become friends.

Bette quickly closed the diary and got out of the tub, dried off, and mumbled to herself

”Tyler?…..Tyler?…I think I remember him. …..Shit!..Why can I remember him and can’t remember the girl I sat by on that bus? Was I that self absorbed that I did not notice the way she looked at me or anything about her?” Bette continued rambling while throwing on her robe and opening the door to her hall closet.

She pulled down her box labeled pictures and mementos, brought it to her bed, and set it down as she crawled under the covers and rummaged through the box.

”Ah Ha! There you are!” Bette beamed as she found her high school yearbooks. She grabbed her Sophomore year and opened it. She scanned the names and didn’t have to go far when she came across the name she was searching for. When she saw the name she gasped and shook her head as she pieced it together.

”Tyler Applewhite…Oh God…. Applewhite?…Ms. Lori Applewhite. That must have been her son that died in that car accident. He had her diary” Bette closed the yearbook and lowered her head in her hands.

“I wonder if I could locate Ms Applewhite and see if she could tell me about the girl Tyler hung out with. I mean why else would he have had her diary if he didn’t know her. Why would she give it to him in the first place?” Bette rambled and laid her head back on the headboard  deep in thought.

The next day, Tina was sitting at her desk enjoying a moment of relaxation as she didn’t have court or a client at the current hour and decided to give her accountant a call. She flipped through her Rolodex to the number and dialed it. Tina leaned back in her chair and propped her feet up on the desk waiting for an answer.

    1. Bette is very confident…. personally, I am too clumsy to try to read a book in a bathtub full of water. I would drop it and it would be ruined… and there is no replacement for that diary.

Too bad Ms. Applewhite does not remember… but maybe she will later. As we get older, that is the way a mind works… you know that you know something like a name and it takes several hours for the brain to bring that file up and suddenly you will sit up in bed and the name will suddenly be the only thing you can think of. Its just a few hours after you really needed that information….

Thanks for the chapter… keep it coming.
