    Dear Diary—Chapter 2

Bette leaned up against her kitchen counter

”Yes I am.” Bette replied and smiled

”Alright then. Well I would really like you to come in for a interview. I’m booked up today but I’m free in the morning at 9am. Could you come in then?”

”Yes. That time would be perfect” Bette answered

”Great. You have a pen handy?” Steve asked.

”Yeah. Just a sec” Bette said putting her phone down and digging into her purse pulling out a pen. She turned and pulled her note pad to her as she put the phone back to her ear ”Ok. I’m ready”

”My office is located 1245 Briarwood Lane. That’s just off of Concord” Steve explained.

    ”Got it. Thanks Mr. Sykes”

”Please call me Steve. I look forward to meeting with you Bette. Tina talked highly of you. Oh and before I forget, please bring a copy of your resume” Steve replied

”I will..See you at 9am and thanks” Bette said as Steve said his goodbyes and hung up

Bette put her phone in her purse and shook her head.

”Tina recommended me?. She doesn’t even know me. We just met. How could she talk highly of me when she hardly knows me?” Bette muttered shrugging her shoulders and heading out the door making a mental note to thank Tina later.

After following her GPS to the address of Ms. Applewhite, Bette finally pulled into the parking lot of the Assisted Living place she was now calling home. Bette walked through the entrance doors and made her way to the front desk where a woman greeted her.

”Hi. Can I help you?” The woman asked as she shuffled papers around on her desk

”I’m looking for Ms. Lori Applewhite” Bette replied looking around the room

”Are you a relative?” The woman asked.

”No. But I knew her son. I just wanted to talk to her for a few minutes if I could.”

The woman nodded and pointed behind Bette.

”Go down the hall behind you and she in in room 4”

Bette nodded and made her way to room 4. After reaching the room she knocked on the door and heard a voice telling her to come in. Bette opened the door slowly as to not frighten her and stuck her head in.

    1. Bette is very confident…. personally, I am too clumsy to try to read a book in a bathtub full of water. I would drop it and it would be ruined… and there is no replacement for that diary.

Too bad Ms. Applewhite does not remember… but maybe she will later. As we get older, that is the way a mind works… you know that you know something like a name and it takes several hours for the brain to bring that file up and suddenly you will sit up in bed and the name will suddenly be the only thing you can think of. Its just a few hours after you really needed that information….

Thanks for the chapter… keep it coming.
