Joan laughed out loud
“Bette are you kidding?…They entire student body male and female liked you..I mean I was your bestie so I saw that and you dated the most popular girls in school”
Bette rolled her eyes and frowned
“Yeah I was so self absorbed back then I didn’t even notice people around me” she says rubbing her fingers over the diary
“Bette that is not true..You were friendly to everyone”
Bette scoffs standing up and turning to face Joan
“That’s bullshit Joan because I don’t even remember this girl that wrote about me..I don’t remember sitting by her…I remember the times she is talking about but I don’t remember her and it’s frustrating..I thought maybe you would remember”
Joan nodded “I see…I’ll try…What can you tell me about her?”
“Well” Bette began as she sat back down beside Joan “She was close to Tyler Applewhite…She wrote about him being her only friend”
Joan went into deep thought for a moment
“Tyler?..He got killed in an accident a few years after we graduated”
Bette nodded “Yeah I found out from my landlord and I found him in the yearbook but I have nothing else to go by..I spoke with his mother but she has had a stroke and can’t remember”
Joan thinks for a moment and snaps her fingers
“Chris!”
“Chris?” Bette questioned
“The girl Tyler hung around..Her name was Chris…I remember her because we had a English project together our Junior year.”
Bette’s face lit up as she reached over grabbing Joan by her shoulders and giving her hard kiss on the cheek
“Joan you’re beautiful!” Bette gushed releasing her hold on Joan and clutched the diary to her chest
Joan scoffed. “I know you don’t really mean that but unfortunately I don’t remember her last name”
Bette shook her head
“It’s ok…You gave me more than I had before so I’m forever grateful”
“What are trying to accomplish Bette?…This was written almost 20 years ago from what you said…No telling where she is now…Or if this is even Chris that wrote it”
Bette shrugged
“I don’t know…I just feel like I have to find her…I don’t know if she is married or what now and if that’s the case then so be it..I just want her to know that I appreciate how she thought of me”

Well, all the pieces are beginning to line up to fall into place for Bette to guess that Tina is Chris Kennard from Westwood. Haleigh is mentioned in the diary. Joan remember Chris was Tyler’s friend and now Tina admits she went to Westwood for a year? But which year? And maybe Tina’s not quite revealing the whole truth… Bette is close to guess the author of the diary… and Bette must know something as she asked about Lacey Minton who has yet to be mentioned in the diary….
So the investigation continues. I like Tina… everyone needs a Tina and a Bette in their life… Thanks for the chapter… look forward to more.
