    Dear Diary—Chapter 4

    Tina sighed

”Bette? I really am sorry. Maybe I should treat you to lunch instead to make up for me not calling you back” Tina offered

Bette stopped and turned to look at Tina

”Are you sure you want to have lunch with me because I get the feeling you don’t want to have anything to do with me outside of your office. I’m your client and you are my lawyer and that’s the way you want it to stay. Right? We can’t be just two people sharing lunch together as friends?”

    Tina shook her head

”Bette?  I just usually don’t see my clients outside of the office” Tina admitted taking a big gulp of her Bourbon.

”Ok. I understand. Sorry if I was putting pressure on you. I just wanted to thank you for all that you have done and thought treating you to lunch would be a good way to do just that” Bette replied turning around and grabbing a glass off of the shelf to make a drink for another customer

Tina sighed and felt herself caving in. ’Shit. I am so fucking screwed’ she thought to herself.

”Bette? Ok.  I would love to go to lunch with you tomorrow. I’m really sorry for my hesitation”

Bette smiled as she set the drink down on the counter in front of the customer and walked back to Tina.

”It’s ok. Really. I understand. But thanks for finally agreeing to letting me treat you to lunch. I promise I won’t bite” Bette joked.

    Tina chuckled

”I wouldn’t mind it if you did” Tina mumbled under her breath

Bette thought she heard Tina mumble something but couldn’t quite make out what it was.

”What was that?” Bette asked curiously

”I said it would hurt if you did” Tina said laughing hoping she covered herself

Bette chuckled and nodded leaving Tina relieved

”Well Bette. I’ve got to go. I’ll see you tomorrow morning ok. And then we will do lunch…I’ll see you later” Tina said leaving money on the table, grabbing her briefcase, and heading for the door.

Bette waved and watched until Tina disappeared through the doors.

    Comments

    1. Well, all the pieces are beginning to line up to fall into place for Bette to guess that Tina is Chris Kennard from Westwood. Haleigh is mentioned in the diary. Joan remember Chris was Tyler’s friend and now Tina admits she went to Westwood for a year? But which year? And maybe Tina’s not quite revealing the whole truth… Bette is close to guess the author of the diary… and Bette must know something as she asked about Lacey Minton who has yet to be mentioned in the diary….

So the investigation continues. I like Tina… everyone needs a Tina and a Bette in their life… Thanks for the chapter… look forward to more.
