Do Better – Chapter Three

“It’s ok. I understand.”
Our conversation over the next hour goes from us, to our daughter, to our work life. Just admiring each other’s presence.
“I should get home to Angie.” Tina says finishing off her drink.
“Are you ok to get home by yourself?”
“Yeah, I’m going to just contact an Uber. Did you want me to get you one too?”
“No, I’m going to hang and get one more drink before I head home. But I’ll walk you out while you wait for your ride.” I say standing.
“Thanks.”
We chat more before her ride pulls up.
“I guess I’ll either see or talk with you tomorrow.” She says to me smiling and opening the car door.
“Sure thing.” I step closer to her and close the door for her.
I make my way back inside and head towards the bar. I take a seat and order another drink.
I sit there smiling to myself as I play with the straw in my glass.
“Hello there, Bette.”
I look up from my drink and stare straight ahead while my brain comprehends the voice I am hearing.
“What’s wrong cat got your tongue?”
I turn in my chair and see Carrie standing a couple feet away from me.
“You have some nerve.”
“If anyone has any nerve here, it’s you.”
“How so?”
“Do I seriously have to remind you who I just saw you here with.”
“It’s none of your business who I spend my time with.”
“It sure doesn’t take you long to get your claws back in.”
“That’s the mother of my child. And listen here, I have had enough of your so-called chats with my daughter as well. You stay away from her.”
“Oh- no the big bad Bette.”
“Carrie, I don’t know what you are trying to prove here but I don’t have time for this.”
“But you have all the time in the world to ruin other people’s lives.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Mine. Pippa’s. You are famous for this game so I’ve heard.”
“You think you’re so brave right now.”
“I noticed there was barely any physical touch between you two tonight.”
“Were you lurking in the shadows waiting for Tina to leave?”
“I may have seen you two from afar. I’m not going to lie. I should have shown myself because I certainly know Tina has been trying to get in contact with me.”

O.ooo, my eyes went wide with this last sentence…
Great chapter.
It still hurts Bette that Tina left her for that woman and now that woman is talking with Angie behind their back and I’m don’t trust her, she wants Angie to meet someone?
She is using Angie to hurt Bette and maybe Tina as well. And Angie thinks she is so grown up and think that woman can be trusted. No way.
Sorry, i can’t say out or write that woman’s name.
Bette going to work on herself is positive but Tina should do it too, Bette always blames herself but Tina played a very big part in their on and off relationships. She is known to hide her feelings and instead of talking to Bette she runs away every time it gets to much.
I’m enjoying this story. Thank you.
