”Kit works at The Planet now?” She mumbles as she watches Kit walk over and interact with another customer.
Tina didn’t realize how much she missed being in this atmosphere, just seeing a familiar face until now.
Kit walks away from the table, and that’s when it happens. Tina and Kit make eye contact.
Tina gives Kit a shaky, sheepish smile as she inadvertently squeezes Angie’s hand tighter.
”Ow,” Angie pouts.
Tina quickly loosens her grip. ”Sorry, baby.” She looks on and gulps when Kit slowly strides over and stands so close to her that she can reach out and hug her. That is, if she could remember how to lift her arms.
”Tina? ….. Baby girl, is this really you?” Kit asks.
”Yeah, it’s me, Kit. How are you?” Tina asks as she feels herself becoming emotional.
”Well, right now, I think I’m in shock….”
Tina reaches up and wipes her eyes. ”I know. I’m sorry to just pop up like this…”
”Why are you crying, mommy?” Angie asks.
Tina looks down at her daughter. ”It’s ok, baby. It’s just been a long time since Mommy’s been here, that’s all….”
Kit looks down at Angelica. ”My goodness, she looks just like her….” She whispers.
Tina drops her head and doesn’t say anything for a few seconds. She then looks up as she grabs Angie’s hand again. ”Angel, this is Mommy’s friend. Can you say hi to Kit?”
Angelica extends her hand to Kit. ”It’s nice to meet you. I’m Angelica….”
Kit smiles and accepts Angelica’s handshake. ”Well, it’s very nice to meet you, Angelica….”
Angelica smiles. ”Yes, it is….”
Tina smiles and shakes her head. ”She loves that joke. Excuse her….”
Kit smiles at Angelica. ”Well, are you hungry, Angelica? I can fix you something to eat if you would like.”
”Yes, please, I would like a cheeseburger….”
”Okay, one cheeseburger coming up. Why don’t you two go have a seat, and I’ll bring it over as soon as it’s done….”
Tina squeezes Angelica’s shoulders. ”Ok, come on, Angel….”
Kit watches Tina and Angelica walk away. She walks behind the bar and passes Angelica’s order to one of her employees.
Kit then rushes to the back, enters her office, and grabs her cell phone from her pocket. ”Come on, baby girl, please pick up your damn phone.” She says as she leans against her desk.
