I Need My Best Friend – Part 6
Tina smiled and said, ‘absolutely.’
‘You once told me that I made you feel safe and loved but that you weren’t feeling that anymore. I’d like to talk about how that changed and if you think you could ever feel that from me again.’
Tina smiled and said, ‘so, you want to explore my feelings do you Dr. Porter?’
‘I need to know what I did to make you feel safe and loved and what changed and why. It was never intentional and I know now that I never fell out of love with you. I just don’t understand how things got so off track.’
‘Do you remember the first time you kissed me?’
‘You kissed me back!’
‘Yes Bette, I kissed you back.’
‘That’s the first time you’ve ever admitted that.’
‘I just like to tease you about it. Anyway, I was a little off balance after that and very self-conscious. You walked me out of the gallery and all I could think was that everyone knew we had kissed and I could just feel them staring at me. I thought we would never reach the door. You kept the conversation going, put your hand on the small of my back and everything just felt okay. I stopped thinking about bolting out the door and before I knew it I forgot anyone else was around. You walked me to my car, opened the door for me, took my hand and said, “I know this is all new to you, but please at least be open to the possibility. If you don’t even consider it you’ll break my heart.” In that moment I couldn’t imagine you intentionally doing anything to hurt me. I told you that I was afraid but I would think about it. Do you remember what you said?’
Bette hung her head and spoke slightly above a whisper, ‘not to be afraid that your heart would always be safe with me.’
‘I believed that with all my heart. Otherwise I could never have made the choice to be with you. I stepped away from everything familiar because I believed it would be worth it.’
‘I’m so sorry Tina.’
‘I know Bette, I know.’
Bette wondered where the person went that was so willing to do whatever it took, wait as long as necessary to have Tina in her life. Kit had told her once that she always wanted what she didn’t have until she got it and then she was on to the next conquest. Is that what had happened? Once she had Tina was that enough? No. She wouldn’t even entertain that thought. She had been happy with Tina far too long for that to be true. She loved Tina, then and now. This wasn’t about conquest.

I can tell this series will be well worth the read, nice job on their conversation. I hope you post the next chapter expeditiously.
There you are, glad to see that you are back. Great chapter. Looking forward for the next one. I do hope that there will be one. Thanks.
That was a wonderful conversation. Very real, very honest…full of love. Really well done.

Thank god they are talking and getting past their pattern of assuming. Good job!
Glad to see that you are back. Missed this story!Great as always!! Thanks
I can see B&T taking that trip to the land of “second chances”!! Wonderful Job
Hey..You’re Back!! I have been eagerly waiting for your new chapter and couldn’t help but smile when I saw you posted a new one today! I really love your story and the conversations that Bette&Tina are having are so realistic and beautiful..it will take a while to heal but I hope they will find each other in the end..and asalways, as long as you write ’em..I will faithfully read ’em..I’m already hooked!..do much appreciate you taking the time to share this with us..
Hey, welcome back! Nice to read your stories again. It’s a good approach to explore. I love the conversations they have. It’s still dramatic but it’s not melodramatic. Still moving and the friendship they have shines through though can’t forget the fact that they’re not meant to be just friends. waiting for the next…
This is more realistic to me than the stories that have B&T splitting up. Of all the people I have seen deal with infidelity in their marriage, it is the couples that truly love each other that try to make the relationship work. They go through all possibilities in order not to leave any ‘what ifs’ lurking out there. Of the ones that have taken the aforementioned route, all the marriages have survived. You are doing a fantastic job with this story. Keep up the great work. I like the honesty between these two.
I love that your back. I’m really likeing this story it seems like this a real way for them to solve there problems. Please go on.

hey! nice to have you here again… Good one… Bette was so sweet with Tina seven years ago… and tina has forgiven bette… really good… what’s gonna be tina’s question? surprise surprise…
This is great. It’s good how they are talking like mature woman and clearing the air instead of holding it in when they don’t know the facts.
Great great great, like Bete said ‘Why couldn’t I have just talked to you instead of cheating on you?’ good question but if you didn’t we never got a chance to read this Story
Well done, asalways! I’ve missed your story -pls don’t disappear for too long!
As Always this was a wonderful chapter. They seem to be moving closer to finding each other again. Please keep writing. I look forward to reading each new chapter.

I’m so happy you didn’t chuck this story! It is so realistic…how I imagine 2 people who love each other find their way back. I am so enjoying this please go on…soon!

Tina jumps to conclusions as quickly as Bette does. They are both so afraid of losing each other. Wonderful writing if u ever read these comments; I just wanted u to know.
