I Need My Best Friend – Part 7

‘Here’s where I’m staying, in case you need to get in touch with me and can’t get me on my cell.’

    ‘Thanks.  Well, here we are.’

Bette got Tina’s bag from the trunk and set it on the curb, she turned around and practically bumped into her.

    ‘Sorry.’

Tina put her arms around Bette, ‘come here,’ kissed her on the cheek, ‘I’ll miss you too.’

It had been all Tina could do to wait until she got to the hotel to read Bette’s letter.  Now that she was here she just sat staring at it.  There was a knock at the door and then, ‘room service.’

She looked out the peephole and then opened the door.

    ‘I didn’t order anything.’

    ‘Ms. Kennard?’

    ‘Yes.’

    ‘It was ordered for you.’

He handed her a note, “I know you probably skipped lunch.  Relax and enjoy.  Bette”

Tina started to tip the waiter and he said, ‘it’s all taken care of.’

She smiled and said, ‘of course it is.’

She looked at the table, it was teeming with all her favorites, including a wonderful Merlot and in the center was a lavish arrangement of fresh flowers.  She poured a glass of wine and got comfortable, she couldn’t wait to see what was in this letter.

    Sunday Night

    My Dearest Tina,

Please indulge me  I’m having one of those times that I’m thinking of you as more than a friend.

I’ll miss you this week, but I wonder if I had not given you cause to leave me if I would be sitting here tonight thinking about just how much I would miss you.  I abhor thinking that I had become too insensitive to have that thought.

Now I know, given the chance, on the eve of your trip, I would spend every moment with you.  I would take you to that small caf at the beach that you enjoyed so much.  After dinner we would walk along the beach basking in the moonlight, listening to the sounds of the ocean.  We’d take the long way home, with the top down, having one of those conversations filled with everything but the thought of you leaving.  When we got home I’d spend the rest of the evening showing you just how much I’ll miss you.

    1. This was absolutely brilliant! Love the letter and the conversation between Bette and Tina..so loving, so tender, so honest..keep ’em coming please..and thanks for this!

    2. wow, they’re quite level headed on handling themselves. Yeah, I think reviving the old habbits that keeps the fire in relationship is surely a place to start. Your series doesn’t lack drama but it’s still so real. sometimes life is dramatic enough without any attempts to make it dramatic.

    3. What a wonderful story. It brought me to tears. You have a wonderful gift. Please continue to share your beautiful story with us. I am looking forward.

    4. Just read this installment, and it was fantastic. Thanks for letting Tina tell Bette that she has forgiven her, it meant so much for Bette to hear that. Can’t wait for the next chapter. Thanks

    5. I really enjoy it, I could feel Bette dispair when Tina finally called, all of it was really sweet. and Girl…. it’s been a week pleaseeeeeeeeee update :D
