”Operate her? Again? Do you know how hard it was for her body to go through the surgery two days ago?”

Tina watched Amelia and Helena scream in the imaging room, papers scattered on the desk, the two women standing like a duel, no specialists in between just the two of them and Shane and Tina.

”Look at this! Or you can’t read this since you don’t know anything about the brain!” Amelia could really be different from what she appeared to be, now she was angry, she screamed banging her hand on the images.

”I see it, it’s a clot, I treat twenty of them a day in cardiology!”

”So we leave it there?”

”Of course not. But we have to wait for her to recover her strength.”

”And how will she tell us she’s strong if she can’t talk? She’s a vegetable now..even if this scares you, she opened her eyes, she was staring at Tina, she was staring at me…what do you want her to become?”

Helena put her hands in her hair and rested her elbows on the table. She had sat down out of desperation. Tina’s face was shocked, it seemed like she was living a nightmare. Every decision was essential and frightening at the same time.
She was on Amelia’s side, or at least she would have been if Bette hadn’t been in that bed, this prevented her from seeing things clearly as always.

”The more time passes, the more her neurological functions will go to hell.”

Amelia had summed it all up elegantly.

Silence fell.

”Tina?” A voice called her, it was Helena.

”Uhm…” Tina cleared her throat, at least the little that was left ”I would think like Amelia… but she’s a special case, we all want the best for her.”

”What would you like?” Amelia asked ”has anyone ever asked you?”

”you have no one, no relatives, she just told me that she doesn’t want to be a vegetable for too long, she signed a paper for ninety days, no more.”

Tina’s eyes widened ”what?” the world collapsed around her, helena’s eyes burned from his piercing gaze.

”with my mother…” helena whispered ”she told her this, and she left her most precious possessions… that’s all I know.” she raised her hands in surrender.
Tina bit her lip ”I don’t know if I can make this decision alone, but I think we have to operate on her though…” She was determined, Helena’s eyes widened.
