”oh yes…Gregory?”

Amelia nodded ”how is she?” nodding towards Bette.

Tina sighed continuing to hold the brunette’s hand ”fifteen minutes without a heartbeat, there’s worse don’t you think?”

”a lot.” Amelia said with conviction ”I’ve seen people who have been arrested for up to forty-five minutes live for a thousand years.”

Tina sighed in relief ”me too…but you know, it’s about her and I…”

”I’ll take care of it, don’t worry…” Amelia smiled, even though she and Tina had only just met, the brunette had always been super friendly with her, they respected each other, they had mutual respect.

Amelia approached observing Bette’s eyes making small minimal movements with the light.

”ok, she’s reacting, we have a lot of hope… I want to wait eight hours after the surgery, once the anesthesia has worn off, she should wake up on her own without any stimulation, let’s see what happens tomorrow morning ok?”

”yes I think so too”

”we’ll find out what’s happening in record time, I promise, but let’s not force the hand, she’s had a major surgery, her body is recovering. Also…” Amelia walked towards Tina now ”if she doesn’t wake up on her own we have many alternatives you know… and from there we’ll understand with x-rays or something else what’s happening… we might not even need it.”

Tina closed her eyes ”that’s what I hope for her… anyway whatever it takes, you’ll have my support, I trust you.”

Amelia smiled placing a hand on Tina’s shoulder ”now try to rest a bit, I’ll have dinner brought here ok? I’ll be back tomorrow morning.”

Tina nodded ”thanks, see you tomorrow Amelia…”.

Tina called Monica, she would stay with Angelica tonight, she really didn’t want to leave Bette and the next day she would be there to listen to Amelia on what to do, she would hope that Bette would wake up, but if that didn’t happen, she would be ready for anything.
She quickly went to change in the doctors’ locker room, took a quick shower and returned to Bette’s room even if it wasn’t allowed, but Bette had a private room.
Tina ate the dinner that Amelia had retrieved and had brought to her room and settled into the armchair next to Bette.
They had all come to say goodbye to her, Alice, Shane, De Luca, even Avery.
When night fell the last one to leave was Helena who reassured Tina.
The blonde finally alone with Bette felt almost at peace, after confessing their feelings Tina felt she had not had time, everything had been so fast, the surgery, something had been lost. Tina felt she needed more time, so she took that night for them, after all Bette was still there, and even if the best thing would have been to slide into bed with Bette to hold her, Tina just rested her face on Bette’s bed, so she could look at her and smell her that was good even after the surgery.
The blonde’s eyes remained open for a while, she thought about how much she loved Bette, how good they were together, how much life she wanted with her.
Shedding a few tears and crying at the same time Tina fell asleep.
