On the other hand was Bette Porter. For the few short days Tina has come to know Bette, she knew that she was it, she was the one, and no one else could ever compete. How could Tina hurt someone she loved?
Either decision, would leave the people she loved and cared for hurt; one would have more consequences than the other, one would hurt more people than the other; but regardless which decision she’d make, she would end up hurting herself.
Why did everything have to come at once? Why did Tina have to face everyone make every decision all tonight? All within the next few hours? If time could just freeze, stop, pause forever, then there would be no worries, no secrets, no lies, just Bette and Tina, and only Bette and Tina. Just one hour ago, just twenty minutes ago, just five minutes ago, everything seemed perfect.

One hour ago:
“Bette?” Tina said Bette’s name in a tone of doubt as she stopped slicing the mushrooms on her cutting board. Her body was now straight as she turned her head to her left side trying to catch a glimpse of Bette.
The kitchen in the apartment was quite small. The two were standing at an adjacent angle, Bette was stirring the ground beef on the stove watching it cook, and Tina was slicing onions, and mushrooms.
“Yeah?” Bette said as she placed the spatula onto the stove top, and turned her head to the right to face Tina.
“Eric proposed last night,” Tina could hardly make out the words.
“Oh…” was all Bette could say. She could no longer face Tina, she turned her head back towards the stove, picked up her spatula, and stirred the ground beef while she stared at it blankly. Unsure of what to say and terrified to hear Tina’s answer, Bette took all the courage in her and finally asked, “Did you say ‘yes’?” while mashing the ground beef.
Tina smiled at Bette’s coyness, and walked behind Bette. She lifted her arms and traced them from Bette’s elbows onto her fingers. She clasped her own fingers in with Bette’s and said, “If you haven’t noticed, I’m kind of interested in someone else right now.”

albeez to tina. you cant even imagine what marrying for the wrong reasons is like. being with someone who obviously doesnt get you. just saying. it might be painful for a minute but dayum its so worth being honest. so be strong. you have bette and sis there for ya and will protect you.

Excellent. The dinner will be very interesting. Why are men so clueless sometimes…or most of the time? Hopefully Eric will see that there is something between T&B. And that he will not propose in front of them all. Then again, it would be interesting to see Tina refuse to proposal and give the exact reason for the refusal. Kiitos for another great chapter!

And now I’m left wondering how Tina’s going to handle this dinner…she’s already used her Fainting card…I suppose she could feign choking on the entree to keep avoiding the inevitable… nah, c’mon Tina, be strong!
