“Tina, am I the reason for you wanting to break-up with Eric?”
“Yes,” Tina replied honesty and quickly. Bette was the main reason, but not the only. For one, she was never in love with Eric like she is with Bette. If Bette hadn’t come along, Tina might have said ‘yes’ to his proposal, but everything changed the moment Tina stepped into that high school. Actually, everything changed the moment she found Bette’s charm, but neither of them knew that yet. No one else ever had a hold on her like Bette did, moreover, Tina wants to break-up with Eric so they both can be happier. Tina stringing Eric along was selfish.
“No,” Bette shook her head. “I don’t want to be the reason for a couple to break-up. I told myself that I would never be that person!”
“No, Bette, it’s not like that, you’ve misunderstood me.” Tina was now shaking her head. “I was never happy with Eric, and I never will be. I don’t love him, if I did, I wouldn’t be here with you right now, and we wouldn’t even be having this conversation. Eric needs to live a life that makes him happy, truly happy, and that isn’t with me.”
Afraid she might have scared Bette, Tina quickly tried to explain herself, “Look, I’m not saying we run off and get married, but…if you feel the same for me as I feel for you, maybe we can try this whole dating thing.”
Bette just smiled and nodded, “Okay.”
“Okay?” Tina asked quizzically.
Bette didn’t say another word, she just continued smiling as she leaned in, and agreed to them dating by placing a passionate kiss on Tina’s lips.
“Oh *****!” Bette suddenly broke off the kiss remembering that ground beef still cooking on the stove. “What about this?” Bette asked Tina, turning around and pointing to sizzling pan.
This time, Tina just smiled, as she reached over and turned that ***** to turn off the stove. She turned Bette back around and they continued their make-out session.

“Uhh…” Tina continued, she didn’t know how to respond to her mother’s comment. All she did was look around the room as she searched for the words to say.

Excellent. The dinner will be very interesting. Why are men so clueless sometimes…or most of the time? Hopefully Eric will see that there is something between T&B. And that he will not propose in front of them all. Then again, it would be interesting to see Tina refuse to proposal and give the exact reason for the refusal. Kiitos for another great chapter!
