While Tina was in with her bank manager Bette carried out a few errands of her own – including getting Tina a set of keys and looking for a suitable key ring to put them on. After doing that she walked up to the auction rooms looking for a housewarming gift for her beloved Tina. They finally met for coffee at 11.
Tina came in carrying a folder full of leaflets and forms – she sat beside Bette and took hold of her hand
“It finally dawned on me while I was in that meeting with my bank manager – who is very cute by the way – that for the rest of my life everything I do and everything I become will be down to your wonderful family “
“No – everything you become is down to hard work and who you are – the personality and the strength and sheer determination to carve out a better life. Its just money – its what you do with it that counts “
“Well I’ve set up a savings accounts – the interest alone on that will more than cover what my grandparents used to give me. She gave me a savings book and I just couldn’t believe how much money is there “
Bette smiled – delighted at how happy Tina was. If anyone deserved the break that Melvin and Peggy had given her it was the beautiful blonde.
“You should treat yourself to something “

“Babe – it’s your money now “

Tina smiled “Right now I am just really excited about getting my room sorted out “
“Bed shopping next I promise – and before we go home – we need to go to Sainsbury’s and get some food in “ Bette was just thrilled at how happy Tina was. It made such a contrast to how devastated she had been when they had spoken on the phone just after Tina had been thrown out by her family. Bette loved seeing Tina happy – it was the most enormous buzz.
They found a furniture store and made a beeline for the beds – Tina jumped on several with Bette just watching her and laughing. After ten minutes of trying out beds Tina looked across at Bette

I can see both sides of it. Right now I’m not comfortable with walking around holding hands with a woman or whatever. But eventually I have to deal with it, right?
Wish I’d found a Bette at university. Wouldn’t have minded a Melvin and Peggy, either.
I understand Bettes point of view, but she is still young and inexperienced – with time and love she will move on….and nobody is better than Tina to do it with!! Great story Ally – BTW what happened to Dylan visiting Helena for Christmas?? Helena deserves to be happy too (now that she is doing her homework LOL) More please…
Ah, they both deserve each other. And if Bette has any problems with verbalizing her desires and needs in public, I can help her with that.

I have to say I’m with Tina on this one. I know it’s hard to get comfortable being the ‘other,’ but if you love your partner enough… you should want to show people that that love isn’t any different than theirs.
