“Yo! Earth to Shane” Alice waved a hand in front of her face
“Yes Alice”
“You were miles away”
“I was thinking”
“Oooooo dangerous process that “ Alice cupped her hands around her mouth “Everyone look away Shane is going to blow!”
Shane slapped Alice on the head “Knock it off would ya” ignoring the looks they were getting from other patrons.
Alice smiled sheepishly while Bette just laughed. “So what were you thinking of?”
Shane wiggled her eyebrows “Urgh that’s gross at this time of day”
“Get your mind out of the gutter… I was actually thinking of a song I saw on tv earlier. It was quite catchy, random video.”
“What song?”
“It was by a group called Dragonette – I get around or something like that. Just thought some of the words rang true” Shane shrugged and took a sip of her coffee.
“I’ll look into it.” Alice was about to continue when her cell phone rang. “Sorry guys”

Alice scrambled around in her bag until she found it, looking at the screen name her jaw dropped… “Umm”
“You going to answer that?” Shane nudged Al, but seeing she was getting no response she snatched the phone out of her hand “Hello, god Alice that is an annoying ring tone? Remembering she was on the phone she said hello again.
“Hi.”
Shane froze she knew that voice. “Hi Carmen”
“S.s.s.s.shane?”
“Yeah, Alice kinda spaced so I answered it. Look I think we need to talk” She said standing up.

Carmen all the way in New York gulped then sat down. “Yeah I think we do.”
“No time like the present” Shane whispered moving away from Alice who had now snapped out of her stare and was watching Shane’s every move along with Bette.

“Look Carmen let me start by saying that I am happy for you, really” Shane shut her eyes and shook her head softly.
“Really?”
Shane sat down at a table outside and took a deep breathe “I am, all I ever wanted was for you to be happy, and if this Amanda woman does that then that’s good”
“Thank you Shane”
“It’s okay, I’ve hurt you too much in the past at least someone can treat you right now”
“Shane you did. I loved spending time with you, everything you did sent tingles down my spine. I wish you had spoken to me before you ran off and left me”.
Shane stood back up and walked away from the café. “I know, but I was a shamed of myself, you know this. I explained it to you in New York.”
“I know you did Shane, I’m just saying that I loved you”
Shane’s heart plummeted “Loved me”
